"In the old days, there was a legend. A legend of two sisters who never left each others side and always turned down men who tried getting their hand in marriage, but one fateful day, for some reason, the two sisters had walked in the village separately. Of course the villagers knew them and were quite friendly with them and had always praised them and given them compliments but when the two walked into the village separately, everyone knew something was wrong and despite asking the same questions such as "What's wrong?" Or "Did something happen between you two?" No answer was given but that was normal since neither really talked but always gave nods or smiles as silent thanks yous' and your welcomes. After the day was spent doing the normal things, picking flowers, letting the children play with their hair and more. By the end of the day, the two sisters were once again facing each but this time only a look of guilt had taken over their expressions and went their separate ways into the forest that was outside the village, but never again, have the sisters been seen. It is said that if you go in the forest at night, and close your eyes and open your heart and mind, you can feel their presence and broken bond in that moment of silence and serenity." My mother had said the story again to me and my sister jay. To us the story never got old or got annoying, it always amazes us how strong the bond between the two young women were. My father, blaze, had always said jay and i's bond is a replica of the two sisters. I wouldn't blame him, we are always together whether its going grocery shopping or the family tradition camping trip in the woods behind our house. "Momma, what were the sisters names?" I asked. She smiles, which shows her dimples "Ahh, now that is a very good my angel." She says as taps my nose with her index finger which makes me giggle in my 5 year old voice as she speaks again "No one has known the sisters names for centuries for it is said that their names were lost and destroyed in ancient text made my the Egyptians from the past." She says. My sister, jay, who by the is 7, then spoke "But if the sisters names were lost in the ancient egyptians text, then how did the sisters live till the village times?" Mother pulls us close as we had been sitting in her lap. "Well, some say that they are recarnated and when they find each other, they know who they are, others have said that their immortal and have changed their looks to fit the era that they were in." Jay and I look at each and said "Woooaahh" at the same time which makes my mother give a soft laugh which fills my ears and fills my heart with happiness. "Now my loves, it is time to rest. You had a long day of helping your father." Mother places us both on the bed we share as well then cuddle up next to each other as mother kisses both of our foreheads and then leaves the room with out father blaze.
"That was twelve years ago." I say after finishing the the story. "Before Me and jay had gone our separate ways, just like the sisters of the story had. Of course I was still child like at times but jay, she had grown cold and distant. I don't know what happened between us, but now, whenever I try to have time with her, either she always says "I'm busy" or "I don't have time." I miss the days where we would cuddle close and watch a movie while drinking hot coco with our parents. Parents..." I trail off the sentance. "Jay and I lost mom and dad in a strange fire. After we left school, of course I was walking home with jay and we got close to home, that's when we saw the smoke, we had looked at each other and ran the rest of the way home but before we made all the way there, our neighbor Kayne had picked us up and held us back from the fire. That was the day of our family reunion, where me and my sister were supposed to meet everyone else in the family. No matter what we did we never did escape kaynes hold on us. By the time he did let us go, it was too late. Everything we had, everyone we were supposed to know, was dead. Our parents, gone, spared to nothing but ashes." I had told my newest therapist like the many times before, my dull emerald eyes glancing up at the man named Dr. Touya. The dark haired male proceeds to take off his glasses as I fidget with necklace around my neck that holds half of mothers and fathers ashes. "Well, Ms. Chaste, it seems to me that you still holding onto the past. You've been in the institute for roughly a year, yes?" I only give a simple nod as I avert my eyes to the ground.
Dr. Touya sets his notes to the side and leans forward resting his elbows on his knees and folding his hands together, his bright turquoise eyes staring at me. "Jax, I think it's a matter of letting go of the past, rather than holding onto it in order for you to leave this institute. Maybe I will contact your sister Jay and see if she can come visit you. I think it's for the best you two see each other for at least an hour so." My body tenses at the mention of my sister as I grip the ashes of my parents "She doesn't want to see me. She never does. She's always busy and has no time for a screw-up like me.." I say quietly but loud enough for the doctor to hear. Dr. Touya stops doing what he's doing and looks at me with something I could only know as curiosity. "And why is that?" He simply asks. My gaze travels up to him then back down "Before I came in here, the last time we saw each other, she said she never wanted to see me again. Blamed me for our parents death when she knew we were there when they died together, then said that real reason she didn't want to see me was because I looked too much like them, like our parents." The doctors' gazed lingered on me for what seemed like eternity. It was as if he was trying to decipher what I was feeling through my body language. "Well, I'm sorry that happened but in order for you to get better, a visit from your sister and letting go of the past seems to be the only cure for you instead of medication and group therapy. I will see you tomorrow Ms. Chaste" with that he puts on his glasses and grabs his notes and walks out of my room and only then did I let the tears I held back to let go. My tears were not ordinary, they are pale blue, and left pale blue streaks down my cheeks. I shift so that I was laying on my bed well it wasn't exactly a bed but its all I had other than the thin blanket the place provided. That night I fell asleep with my pale blue tears streaming down sideways, across my nose and down my cheek. I fall into dreamless, uncomfortable sleep, feeling cold and lonely as I always have for the last 3 years.
A/N: holy shit. 1,292 words on the first chapter. Ahh! Okay, so this story is based off of something I was to create as a horror story but turned out to be a story of legends. Of course I made up the legend but it was inspired by another short story that was about 4 sisters. Okay okay, i'll go now. Bye my loves!
