You woke up alone. But glancing to the side, you realized Jasper must've gotten up just a little while ago because there was still a slight indent in the mattress next to you from his body.
You blinked for a moment, pulling yourself out of sleep, before feeling your cheeks flush with realization. Last night was the first night you two were in the same bed together. Of course, nothing happened. But.. still. The fact that you two to co-exist together like that was a victory to the both of you.
You stood up, stretching out your arms and letting out a silent yawn. Slowly, you stumbled down the stairs, pausing at the bottom step. Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion. The smell of breakfast food wafted through the house. Who was cooking..? To your knowledge you were the only one who ate. Well.. at least ate food.

Turning the corner, a gasp escapes your lips. Jasper stood in-front of the stove, a pan in one hand and a spatula in the other. He turned around, breaking into that famous lop-sided grin. "Goodmornin' darlin'."
He put down the pan, walking up to you and picking you up by the waist, spinning you around in a hug. A bout of laugher escaped from your lungs, and it made him laugh too. "I hope you slept well." He remarks, putting you back down. His blonde hair flopped infront of his face.
You couldn't help but grin. This was definitely the best way to wake up ever.
"I did." Your eyes trail down slightly. You had to admit, he was perfect. And right now, his grey T-shirt and flannel pajama pants were looking just as nice as a tux. "You are..." you trail off, searching for the right words. "...perfect." You decide.
He chuckles, scooping you back in and softly kissing you. He pulls always before you could wrap your arms around him.
"And, contrary to popular belief, I'm a damn good chef too." He winks, heading back over to the stove. "I made a mean crepe back in the day, so I thought I'd whip one up for you."
He leans the pan towards you, pointing his spatula at the crepe as if displaying it.
"It looks like a crepe.. hopefully it tastes like one too." You tease. He rolls his eyes, but continues to grin. Walking back to the stove, he continued to cook.
"Go get dressed." He said with something new in his tone. It was darker. "We cant stay here long."
Your eyes widened. "But- I thought you said we needed to stay away from Forks-" you protested, confused.
"We do, but now that Maria knows we are here.. we have to leave."
You scrunched up your eyebrows, placing a hand on your hip. You couldn't help but be a bit annoyed.
"Who is she anyways? What did she mean by all that last night?"
Jasper tried to keep his complexion masked, but you could see his mouth twitch slightly.
He slowly turned off the stove, turning around to face you. He oncemore had that shadowy look on his face.
"She.. was the person who changed me into this."
The last word he spoke hang heavy in the air. It sounded toxic.
He ran a hand angrily through his hair, completely scowling now. "She was building an army. An army of Newborns. See.. newborns are stronger than normal vampires because they still have human blood in their veins.." he trailed off, looking away now. It worried you.
"Jasper?" You asked softly, taking a step forward. He took a step back.
"She abused my powers.. she..I thought she loved me. Really, I was just her puppet. It was a sick trick." His voice dripped so heavy with hatred that you could swear it was toxic.
"And so.." he paused for a long time, gathering his thoughts. "So.. we need to leave. She'll be back with.. many, many bloodthirsty newborns."
You nod slowly, biting your lip. "Okay."
He glanced up, almost surprised by this. He simply nodded.
You stood there awkwardly, before turning and going upstairs to get dressed. Why did things always have to end up weird with you two? It seemed whenever you had a chance to have a really lovely time it was always ruined..
you angrily combed your hands through your hair, changing into the first thing you pulled from the closet. It was a simple pair of light wash denim jeans and a button down rust red shirt. You tied your hair up sloppily, bending cuffing your jeans. When you did so, you felt a hand on your shoulder. It sent a jolt down your spine. Practically throwing yourself up, you spun around. But before you could do anything else, arms enclosed around you, pulling you tightly into a rock-hard chest. Jasper leaned his chin softly down on your hair, squeezing you closer. After a moment, you squeezed too.
You two stood there for at least a few minutes, just holding each-other. Finally, he pulled away.
"Back to Forks." He said, his voice full of hesitancy.
"Do you think they've gotten him by now?"
"Who knows. But once we get back, we're leaving again immediately. I just need to get the keys from Carlisle."
"The keys? To what...?"
The whole time you two had been talking, you two had been walking to the car. You got in, waiting for an answer. He climbed in too, shuttling the door.
He glanced behind him, turning the key in the ignition. The car purred to life.
"To his island."

Your mouth dropped open while the car sped off.
"A- what? Carlisle owns a whole island?"
Jasper let a small smile cross his face. He nodded once. His hand rested on your knee, making small circles on your skin. You could tell he was starting to get more comfortable with you.

However, little did you know, you'd never get to visit the island he spoke of.
You watched as Jasper clutched the wheel, passing around a few cars. You took a deep breath in, your eyes tracing to the window. You watched the trees and the hills pass by. Until- something caught your eye. Was that Maria? Standing there in the field? You blinked and she was gone.
No.. it must not have been. You shook your head slightly as if to clear it.
Back to Forks.. back to James.
