Riella had been over here all week

Riella had been over here all week. I appreciated having her help so much. But I only had a day left until I had to meet up with our new connect. We were supposed to meet them in Las Vegas to get the first load of the new product. I couldn't leave without telling Riella where I was going. She would try to find out some kind of way, but I didn't want to tell her and cause another argument either.

I pulled the chicken out of the oven and winced from the pain. The pan was a little heavier than I thought and I lifted it with my hurt arm. "What are you doing?!" I placed the pan on top of the stove and sucked my teeth. Riella put her stuff down and ran into the kitchen. "Oscar, do you want to heal?" She lifted up my shirt and examined my gunshot wound. "You could rip your stitches Oscar and then what?" I sighed, "I just wanted to cook you dinner for once. You've been over here cooking and cleaning for me everyday." She shook her head, "Oscar I volunteered to help you for a reason. You need to sit and focus on rehabilitating your arm to full strength." I nodded and walked over to the living room table. I sat down and watched her as she turned off the oven.

She walked back over and grabbed the groceries she bought in with her. "So what else do you have to get done this week?" She asked me as she put up the groceries. "Uh, I actually have a run to do in Las Vegas." "Huh?" "I have a run to do in Las Vegas." She walked over and sat down at the table with me. "A run?" I nodded. "What do you have to do? Drop off something or pick up something?" "Both." She sighed. "Oscar, I don't think you should go. You just go shot. You're still a target and the Prophets could easily try to get at you when you're out of town."

I shook my head. "I don't give a fuck about the Prophets. They got lucky, that's it." "What are you picking up?"

I didn't say anything.

"Oscar I asked you a question." I sighed and looked at her. "Coke." She got up from the table and started putting more of the groceries away. "Riella." She wouldn't look at me. "Riella." I stood up from the table and walked into the kitchen. Then I grabbed her hands and stopped her. "Riella listen to me." She looked up at me with those big brown eyes. "I have to do this. You know if there was another way." She just kept staring into my eyes. Then she shook her head slightly. "Oscar, your mom." I scoffed, "Fuck her. She left, I didn't make her leave. Just like I didn't make her choose drugs over her kids. She made fucked up decisions. Nobody made her do it. She chose to do it." My voice was starting to crack as I was slowly breaking down. "She left! She left! She left me, she left Cesar. She left her fucking kids." I couldn't hold it any longer. I started to really cry. Riella just wrapped her arms around me and pulled me in close. "I know, I know." She held me tight as I cried to her. "Why? Why did she leave us?" "I don't know Oscar, but she really missed out." Slowly we sat down on the floor of the kitchen and Riella held me there. Like I was a little kid again.

I tried not to let it get to me, but watching my mom snort coke on our living room table, night after night. Leave with random men while they groped her up, while I didn't know what me and Cesar were going to eat that night. That shit fucked me up so bad. I never talked about this shit to anyone but Riella. This is why she went off on me when she saw the cocaine in the house that night. Riella knows how bad this drug messed up my life. "You're not going Oscar." I shook my head as I wiped away my tears. "I have to. I already shook on the contract with them. It's a done deal. I can't back out now. If I do, they will kill me." She sighed. "You're still not going Oscar." "Did you hear what I said Riella?" "I'm going to go instead." I frowned hard and sat up to look at her. "What?" She nodded, "I don't want anything else to happen to you." She nodded, "I'll go. I can take some of the Santos with me to make sure I'm safe. But if I go, nobody will suspect anything. You'll be safe at home." "No! I can't let you do that Riella. It's dangerous meeting up with a connect. Shit could always pop off. The police could show up, anything." "You're not changing my mind Oscar, I'm going."
