Malai was really feeling herself

Malai was really feeling herself.

Out of impulse she had gotten a lip piercing and bought a whole two new outfits. She did it with no regrets.

Yea, her parents had began to call her and become worried, but she blocked their calls out.

The day after she came she bought her painting supplies and made a small art studio in the extra room of her 2 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment.

It was small, but it was all she needed. She set off to work immediately. She decided to do a mixed media portrait of maps of Seoul and Bangkok randomly torn and thrown on the canvas with chains breaking all over it.

She truly loved what it represented.

It represented her pathway to freedom.

It would take a while if she took breaks, which she did, and she still had to move in all her stuff and get situated.

Of course she had her doubts, but she tried to throw those aside.

She knew no one here though, and she never thought loneliness might be an issue she couldn't fix immediately.

So she set to the streets around night to head to a karaoke bar. It wasn't like Malai was planning to sing, she just wanted to put herself out there.

So she tugged on high waisted jeans and a animal print tank top and a black jacket and headed off to that karaoke bar she saw.

When she walked in she was surprised with how many people she saw.

It was nice though, and it gave her a chance. Random people singing on stage, the slight flow of chatter. It felt... normal.

It was new.

But Malai loved it.

She loved this new.

She was never going back.

She made her way to a booth, it was empty and in the middle, a perfect spot to meet people honestly. The place was crammed packed so someone would probably have to sit with her at some point, hopefully it wasn't some creep.

Just as she was about to sit down, her body came colliding with another, their hands grabbing her forearms to catch her.

The minute she did, she felt the shock on herself and almost immediately the person pulled away.

She had two marks like everyone else did. One was a print of two hands on her back, the other was two hands grabbing her forearms. And this man had just grabbed her forearm.

"Oh," he said as he stared at her before she glanced at him.

He had pale skin and black hair that was parted in the middle. His eyes were big and his nose small.

"Uh hi," Malai said, the boy backing up as Malai stood awkwardly, the people around her still bustling around. But it was as if everything had disappeared and it was just her and this man.

The man had his eyes trained on her wrists before glancing up at her face.

"I'm uh Malai," she said, "Wongsaraya Malai. Do you want to grab a seat."

The man smiled and nodded, sliding into the booth across from her.

"So I'm guessing we're soulmates," Malai asked, picking up that he didn't say much.

"I uh guess so," he said. "I'm Byungchul, Choi Byungchul."

😬😬😬

Not what y'all expected huh?
