Moomintroll's POV

The sun was shining brightly down on Moominvalley, the birds flying freely. It was the perfect day for a picnic, which was always a good thing.
Now, this was the perfect day, or at least the best day of the year. Not because of the weather--well, not necessarily- but because it was the first day of Spring, and that was when Snufkin would be coming back to Moominvalley.
Waking up I knew this very well, and I got out of bed as quickly as I could, ecstatic for the day ahead. Mama was busy making breakfast, knowing I would wake up early today, as I usually did.
I happily bounced around the room before finally sitting down.

"Well, someone's definitely excited!" Mama chuckled, finishing making breakfast and grabbing a few bowls from a cupboard. "You seem even more excited than last time, and I didn't think that was possible!"

I smile, beginning to eat breakfast and preparing to ramble about how happy I was.

"Well, it just--do you know that feeling when you can tell it's going to be a good day? Okay, well, imagine that, but instead of just being good, you know it's going to be amazing! And then imagine that feeling on a day you're already really excited about! I just..." I squeal, unable to contain my excitement. "Oh, I just can't wait 'til Snufkin gets here!"

Mama chuckled again, taking my empty bowl and putting it in the sink.
"I can tell, but don't get too carried away. You can't wait outside for him all day."

"Wh...why not? It's a wonderful day outside! Oh! If Snufkin gets back early enough we could have a picnic!"
I continue to ramble on, and Mama clearly knows she can't argue with me.

"Alright, alright. I know how much Snufkin means to you."
She turns and begins to wash the dishes. "I know just how you feel."

"You do?" I ask, tilting my head slightly.

"Mhm, I felt the same way about your father when I fell in love with him."

My face goes red at Mama's words. 'fell in love with him'?? What did she mean?...how did she know?--
"G-gosh, Mama, I d-don't--well, I mean--I--" I stammer, tripping over my words. Mama just chuckles once again.

"You don't have to be so afraid to admit it, Moomin. I do know how you feel, though."
She dries the bowls, then turns to look at me. "Well, aren't you going to go wait for him?"

"Right! Right, of course!" I stand up, going to grab something from my room before running straight out the door, going straight to the bridge and sitting there, preparing to wait as long as I need to. I don't mind waiting, besides, it means I have time to practise what I'll say to him.
I think about what I'll say, at what time I'll say it, what he might say after what I say and what I'll say to that; basically, I get carried away planning.

Even though time seems unbearably slow, two hours have already passed. There's no sign of Snufkin right now, but he doesn't normally get here this early anyway. It'll be great when he gets back, I know it will. I can feel it.

Snufkin's POV

I'll be at Moominvalley soon enough. In fact, I'm incredibly close. With each step I feel myself getting closer, though it feels like time's been slowed. I suppose I'm just excited to see my Moomintroll again. 'my'? No, don't get carried away with your thoughts, Snufkin.
I take my harmonica out my bag, listening to the birds sing and all the sounds of nature. I pay attention to the patterns and tunes and I soon figure out a rythm. I hold my harmonica and begin to play, walking onward to Moominvalley. I find myself playing an even more lively tune that usual, due to my excitement I suppose.

I can see the Moominhouse in the distance, and as I walk it only gets closer. Before I know it I can see the bridge, where I can see Moomintroll is sitting. I see his ears perked up, as he looks straight at me.

"Snufkin?" He asks softly, though full of excitement.
I walk a bit faster and I can tell he's see me clearly as his face immediately lights up. He quickly stands up, walking forward a bit across the bridge.
"Snufkin!"

I stop playing my harmonica, putting it back in my bag before placing it on the end of the bridge, walking over to Moomin. I see how excited he looks, and I can't help but smile

"Moomintroll." I say, though with much more...excitement then usual. I can tell Moomin notices this, and he seems quite happy about it. That's nice to see. "So, how was your winter?"

"It was alright, pretty slow, though. I'm glad you're back, Snuff." He smiles. "How were your travels this year? Did you do anything cool? What did you see?" He asks, certainly happier than usual. He was full of questions, it was refreshing.

"Well, I didn't really see anything new this year. A few tows, they were pretty ordinary, nothing new. Nice people, but nothing that's really worth mentioning." I smile, going to sit down on the bridge, my legs dangling off the edge. Moomintroll does the same, looking at me with interest.

"Really? You usually always have something exciting to talk about. Was it not a good trip?"

"No no no, it was a good trip, and it was nice, it just wasn't too interesting this time around. And that's okay." I reply, to which Moomin looks confused, for a moment, before smiling again.

"Well, at least you enjoyed it!" He said, before jumping slightly as he seemed to remember something. "Oh! By the way, would you like to have a picnic today? It's the perfect weather." He smiled, eager for an answer.

"Of course!" I say, before standing up. "Though, I do need to set up my tent first. I won't be long."
Moomin looked a bit disappointed, but far more excited.

"Alright! I'll go get everything ready for the picnic! This'll be great!" He says before running up to the Moominhouse, waving at me before he went in. "See you later, Snufkin!"

I smile, waving back at him. When he goes inside I simply stand there for a minute chuckling slightly. It was really nice to see Moomin again, and I can't wait to spend more time with him.
"He's cute." I say to myself, before realising what I said. Though, I didn't have much time to think about it, as someone had already seemed to have been listening.

"I knew it!"
