"Any objections, speak now. Or forever hold your peace."

I object. I silently say, what would they do if I said it out loud? Would we pack up and go home? I highly doubt it, I'd probably get a good talking to from my mom, maybe even from her new fiancé.

"You may now kiss the bride." The priest says. I almost gag.

Correction, husband.

******

Mr. Williams carries mom bridal style into the new house.

He fiddles with the keys in his hands as he unlocks the door.

I walk in, brushing a few strands of long blond hair from my face.

I mentally gag as Mr. Williams sets mom down before placing a kiss on her lips.

"I'm going upstairs." I announce, although I don't think either of them heard me.

Once I get to a door that had my name on it, I turn the knob and walk in.

I set my guitar case down, taking in the room. The walls were a pale blue color as was the bed sheets on the queen bed that was set in the middle of the room.

There was a desk— as well as a full length mirror as well.

Walking further into the room, I see a door. Probably a closet. I open it, seeing it was a walk in one with clothes hanging, as well as a couple dresses mom would probably force me to wear every once in a while.

I turn back to the room, inhaling the vanilla scent.

A couple suitcases and boxes were scattered across the room, some littered in corners.

I opened my guitar case, pulling out my red Rogue guitar that I had bought for a cheap price online.

I had two guitars, one was hanging up from when I had come the other visit.

I quickly run up to it, carefully pulling it from the wall before cradling it to my chest.

It was a blue electric guitar— it was my life.

"I missed you." I say, although it's weird.

"Hate to interrupt your conversation..." I shriek and spin around at the sudden voice behind me.

I see a boy, about my age.

Nathan. My new step brother.

Although I hoped it was one of his friends or something— cause this man is drop dead gorgeous.

"Sorry, did I startle you?" He raises his eyebrow.

I instantly blush at the slight movement, realizing I was still clutching my guitar as if my life depended on it.

I set the guitar down, before turning to him.

"I'm Jade, but I go by Jay." I say, holding out my hand, taking a step forward.

He stared at my hand, dumbfounded before meeting my eyes.

His eyes were an electric blue, causing my breath to catch in my throat.

"I'm Nathan." He says.

Shoot, he's my step brother.

I blink at him.

"Kids!" Mr. Williams screeches from downstairs.

Both me and Nathan walk downstairs.

"Yes, Mr. Williams?" I ask when I reach downstairs. Mr. Williams frowns deeply.

"For the millionth time, Jay. It's Paul."

"Baby," mom cuts in, "please, call her Jade. Jay makes her sound like a boy. She can dress like one but she can also at least use the name I gave her." Mom says. I grimace as she wipes imaginary dirt from my face.

"Alright, Jade it is." Paul says.

I sat there in my seat awkwardly, as Paul stares me down at the dinner table.

"How are you liking Your new home, Jade?" Paul asks. I shrug one shoulder as I play with the lasagna on my plate.

"It's okay." I mumble.

"She loves it, thank you Paul." Mom chimes in.

I glare her way, she innocently takes a bite of lasagna.

I feel eyes on me, I turn towards Nathan's seat, seeing his eyes bore into mine.

He makes no attempt to look away.

"What?" I mouth. He shrugs on shoulder, looking away with a smirk on his face.

I sigh, any other day lasagna would be amazing. Today it's just not doing the trick.

"May I be excused?" I ask, although I don't wait for answer. I stand up, pushing my chair backwards and picking my plate up.

"Be ready for your first day tomorrow, and at least try to look like a girl for once." Mom scolds.

I roll my eyes, dumping my lasagna in the garbage before rinsing my plate off in the sink.

"Will do." I say before stomping upstairs.
