It was nightfall, but Prudence could see everything because of the fire that had lit the barn. She ran as fast as she could, screaming out for her beloved. “William!” She cried out. “William where are you?!” Her screams fell on deaf ears however, as her love was nowhere in sight. Sinking to her knees, she cried into her hands for the love she had lost. Only one person could be behind it. Gabriel. At that moment, Prudence swore that her love would not die in vain. She would end the life of Gabriel Price once and for all.
At that moment, Genevieve shot up in bed. The dream had seemed so real. Sure she always wondered what it would be like to be Prudence, to experience the love she had experienced before it was ripped from her, but she never wanted to have to experience her loss. Genevieve took deep breaths to try and calm herself down. Once she had deemed herself fit to move, she got up from her nice warm bed to take a shower. After finishing, Genevieve wrapped a towel around herself and headed to her closet. Choosing a large green flannel shirt, sweatpants and a pair of running shoes with severe distaste, she pulled them on. Once her hair was dry, Genevieve brushed her hair, parted it down the middle and created to messy plaits. Putting on her glasses to complete her look, Genevieve stumbled downstairs for breakfast and the briefing. Xander was already sitting at the table eating an omelette, dressed similarly as his sister. Genevieve sat at her place and began to eat the plate of fresh fruit her mother had laid out for her. Pierce and Emmeline came out and sat at their places.
Emmeline eyed Xander suspiciously, “Xander dear, did you finish all that you needed to?”
Xander swallowed what was in his mouth. “Yes mum. I just have to hand them in.”
“Same.” Genevieve smiled.
‘Great!” Pierce exclaimed, “Go to school today, and hand in your stuff. We’ll be leaving tonight.”
“Okay.” Genevieve and Xander said together. They both headed up to their rooms to get their bags. With a kiss on the cheek to their mother, they were out the door on the way to school.
Genevieve and Xander walked down the hall to their lockers. Second period had just finished and it was time for lunch. Genevieve wasn’t thinking about lunch though. All she could think about was this next mission. She would finally get to see France. Well, after the mission was completed of course. She was pulled from her day dream when her locker was slammed shut. Looking up, she saw the faces of three people she despised.
“Celestia, Lacy, Ainsley. What a surprise! What do you want?”
“We just wanted to see how dear old Gen is doing.” Celestia said in her best sarcastic voice.
“Yeah I bet.” Genevieve replied.
“Well you see, we thought that these plaits,” Ainsley said eying Genevieve’s plaits “are so last decade. So we’ve decided to cut them off.”
Lacy came forward with a pair of scissors prepared to cut off Genevieve’s hair. Genevieve moved backwards, kicked the pair of scissors our of Lacy’s hands and in no time at all had Lacy on the ground with her hands behind her back.
“You freak!” Celestia screamed.
Genevieve looked around. Everyone around her was staring at her in horror. She quickly let Lacy go and ran outside.
Genevieve grabbed her phone out of her pocket and quickly texted, “meet me at the place.”
Her phone vibrated. “Ok”
Genevieve hurried to the edge of the school and jumped over the fence. About fifty metres into the thicket that surrounded the area, she turned right, and there she was. Hurrying into the small cave, she lit a candle and waited patiently for her brother to arrive. Two minutes later, he entered.
“What’s wrong?” Xander asked worriedly, “Are you hurt? What happened?”
“Xan, I’m fine. I accidentally just…um…well…”
“Um…well…spit it out!”
“Well ‘the bitches’ came at me with a pair of scissors. I kind of overreacted a little and put Lacy on the ground.”
“What do you mean by, “you put her on the ground”?”
“Well...I…” she stammered, “I had her on the ground with her hands behind her back.”
“Gen, you can’t do that. You know you can’t. Mum and dad said if you lost your temper one more time then we’ll be getting home schooled!”
“It would be a whole lot better than this place,” Genevieve said, “the only reason you want to stay is because of Kiana.”
“Yeah, um, about that…the girl is real and all, but she doesn’t really like me.”
“Why not?”
“Let’s see. Maybe because we are outcasts. Oh, and she’s dating the captain of the basketball team.”
“Yep, that would do it.” Genevieve sighed. “I have to get out of here.”
“What do you mean?” Xander replied eying his sister suspiciously.
“Look, I wanted to wait until we were back to tell you. After this next mission, I’m out of here. I can’t live like this anymore. I want to go where people don’t know me. Where I can start over as someone new and not a “weirdo’ like everyone thinks we are. I want to be myself.”
“Okay,” Xander said, standing up, “how soon after we get back are we leaving?”
“Xan, you really mean it?” Genevieve asked tearing up, “Will you really come with me?”
“You’re my twin. The twins that kill together…?”
“Stay together.” Genevieve finished.
She jumped up and hugged her brother. Now all they would have to do is get through the next mission and they could run away.
