Zéro (Prolouge)

Pete feels alone, being gay in conservative Indiana wasn't exactly how he would want to live. He goes on a dating site in hopes of finding love.

Chasten feels odd in Chicago, he loves his job, but he's lonely, afraid he'll never find love, so, he goes on Hinge to find a lover.

Pete has always been open about everything, even to his people in South Bend IN. As Mayor he believes he must be honest to his town. So, he comes out. He was afraid, but he got very positive feedback. He still felt majorly alone, afraid to breathe or blink the wrong way. Then, he met Chasten and felt like himself for the first time in years.

Chasten tries to help everyone around him feel loved and make them know they have a place in the world. He believed he needed to, he may only be a middle school drama teacher, but he knew the smallest action can make the biggest difference. When he met Pete he knew he needed to help him, and he needed Pete's help too.

"Don't ask don't tell Buttigieg!"

"Sir, I-"

"Hush, no more, You are eing sent home."

Pete woke up in a sweat. He's had this nightmare for a year, since he was deployed, or, "let off"/"let go."

He got up and got ready for another day as Mayor.

---Getting to know Chasten---

"Hush boy!"

"Please..."

"Shut up! If you try to do anything, bad shit will happen."

"Just...Please...Why.."

Chasten woke up sobbing. He had the dream, again. Ever since he was 18. He never told anyone, he just felt like he couldn't.

He got up and got ready for another day of being a middle school drama teacher.
