Althea-
Every morning was the same for me. Wake up, listen to my boring tutor, eat, then go back to bed. I was home-schooled ever since I was in pre-K. My mother was a very depressed person who was good at hiding it; when I was born my father held me once then left because he was "too young" to take care of a family. It sucked because my mom decided she would never marry again or have anymore children making me her only child.
I simply blame my father for this, if he just stayed my mother wouldn't have to worry about keeping me safe 24/7. If he just stayed I would of went to regular school and experience a regular teenage life... So I had no friends, no siblings, nobody but my mother. Nothing was wrong with that but, when you start to listen to her stories of why men are jerks then you start to wish you had friends your age. My mother spoiled me getting me the latest iPhone, iPad, Macs, new clothes, and new shoes but what was the point ? I had no friends to call or text and all I knew what to do was play games. All these things meant nothing if I had them for no reason.
Tomorrow is my 18th birthday and all I can think about is the colleges I had applied for in my senior year of, "Home-School High School" (Its what I called it). I wanted to go to Plymouth University so bad because it was far away from home and I would finally break free from this prison of a home. My mother of course was on the edge about me even applying for college but with my SAT scores I couldn't let this opportunity slip away. Going to college seemed very scary, especially since I've only ever talked to 2 people in my life and its my tutor and mother. At the same time I felt so much happiness because, I could go to regular school and be on my own for the first time in years.
August 12, 2014 *Happy Birthday*
"Happy Birthday Thea !!!," my mother surprised me waking me up to a big cake and a new outfit. It kind of bothered me how she bought my clothes when she could easily take me to the mall. Anyways I was grateful for her cause she's all I had but while I was cherishing this moment something caught my eyes, my mother was holding a letter. "Mom what's that you have there?" I asked with the most curious tone. She looked at me with a smile,"Open it love." My mouth dropped to my feet, I couldn't believe I was accepted to Plymouth University and I would move in September 18, a month from now !!!!
Happiness filled my lungs with life, I felt like I could breath so much better, I hugged my mother so hard and started doing cartwheels around the house. That's how happy I was to finally see a new chapter in my life unfold. And my mother was actually excited for me but at the same time you could see her sadness in her face of me leaving in a month to be away from her. "Hey I was gonna take you to this new restaurant that opened up Downtown, that's why I got you the outfit." Oh mom thank you so much I'll go get dress.
*2 hours later *
We drove 50 minutes to get to the fancy new "La Rue" and I was impressed, she was going all out for my birthday. When we got into the restaurant it was decorated beautifully and everything seemed so untouchable. The waiter brought us to our seats and we sat and started to debate on what to order. After a few minutes a handsome tall guy with uniform walked over to our table and said," Bonjour Welcome to La Rue, I'm Lindon and I will be your server today." Lyndon was a really cute guy, I've never really spoken to a guy before so it was awkward. My mother ended up telling him what we wanted because I couldn't even look into his face he was so handsome. Lyndon had flowy brown hair, clear blue eyes, and a smile that could heal the sick. I might be over exaggerating but he was just really beautiful.
After dinner we took a walk around Downtown Lockwood. It was a long time since me and my mother really talked about life. "Mom do you think I will enjoy being away from home?" She stopped and looked at me in confusion, "I thought you wanted to leave really badly, are you having doubts Althea?" In my mind I really was having doubts but also I felt so ready to be on my own. "I'm not mom I'm just afraid, but anyways let's go home and start packing."
