Rain. That's all the surrounded me. Rain soaking everything in sight - including myself. My raincoat was losing the battle as I could feel water penetrate and soak my skin. My hood had water droplets dripping past my face. The chill of the wind made goose bumps erupt along my body. I tapped my feet lightly on the ground, splashing water gently over my boots. Ten minutes stood out in the rain was a little longer then I would like but it matched the mood of this utterly awful day. I looked up at my dad and Thomas as they wrapped their arms around one another - dad was heartbroken. Thomas gently rested on dads shoulder, his ebony black hair contrasting against dads pale skin.

Grandpa Charlie past away two weeks ago and it would take awhile to adjust, I don't think I'd even fully accepted it yet. I'd only just gotten adapted to grandma having passed away less than six months ago - an animal attack. Not the oddest occurrence in Forks, but they seemed to be increasingly more popular in recent months. My heart ached at the thought of never seeing them again but I'd like to think that they've been reunited, happy as ever.

We stood outside Grandpas house, a small two bed. Cosy, but small. The house had been constantly beaten by the wind and rain leaving it look tired. The grass had begun to grow wild, leaving it almost looking abandoned, as the gutters overflowed with a variety of coloured leaves.

The soft hum of a car pulling up along side the house appeared. I turned my head to see a silver Volvo pull up alongside the large pine trees that stood outside the house. Aunt Bella. She slowly stepped out, her brown boots slowing sinking into the mud. She gripped her hands on the car door as she pushed her self out.

Her soft ivory pale skin reflected the white sky. She was a beautiful woman, even with her deep set wrinkles but you couldn't deny she didn't look amazing for a 65 year old. Despite being so pale, she loved the sun and the warmth that it brought it with it. Her short brunette hair cuffed her heart shape faced, framing it as she stares down at the ground.

"Bella!" My dad called, walking towards her car.

Her eyes flicked up to him. My dad threw his arms around her, nearly causing her to fall of her feet. Aunt Bella wasn't exactly what you'd call the most affectionate, however my dad on the other hand, was a hugger. As they stood next to one another, it always hit me how similar they looked. Dark brunette hair, slender figures and heart shaped faces. Despite the large age gap of course, and the different mothers, they did look incredibly alike.

She lightly patted him on the back, "Hi Adam."

Dad released his hug after taking the hint and helped correct Aunt Bella on her feet. He let out a half smile before turning towards me and Thomas.

"Hey guys." Bella waved. The sadness in her voice echoed and she half heartedly smiled.

I let out a half smiled and waved back, Bella wasn't exactly someone who sought out a conversation, let alone an emotional one. Bella was a lovely aunt, Thomas moved towards her as she prepared for another hug. He gave her a side hug very quickly before moving back towards me.

"Well, should we start sorting stuff out?" Dad asked.

Bella nodded as we all walked up the stairs towards the front door. Grandpa had left everything to my dad and Aunt Bella. She fiddled around in her dark brown coat pocket searching for the keys.

Thomas cleared his throat "So wheres Jacob?" He asked.

Bella kept her head down as she continued to look for keys "Oh...um..." She hesitated for a second, "he's looking after the shop today, and I figured... it'll just be easier if it's us" She slowly looked up at Thomas as she removed the keys from her pocket.

Thomas nodded and the air felt silent as she unlocked the door. The creak of the door as it opened ripped through the silence. Warmth. Shelter. I hurried inside following my dad and quickly shut the door. The smell of Grandpas house hit me like a brick. It was a mix of smells: plants, candles and a variety of incense sticks. Unusual, but he burned them constantly since Grandma died. I think it reminded him of her, she was always burning white sage and lavender, the smell brought a comfort to me. It threw me back into my childhood, where I'd spend almost every day here after school.
