It was my 21 birthday and we went out on a date. It was a fancy restaurant. Since I was 21, I could drink. I ordered some fine wine and ended up being drunk by the end of the night. Thankfully, Gabe wasn’t drunk and he drove us home sober. We got into the house. My mother was asleep and couldn’t hear a thing. I took advantage of that.
“Hey, babe?”
“Yes, Charlie?”
“You know I love you, right?”
“Of course I do.” I climbed on top of him. I kissed him passionately and we ended up making love that night.
-A few weeks later-
“Gabe?!” I woke up frantically.
“Yes?”
“I don’t feel too good.” I jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom. I puked up whatever I had for the past few days.
He rushed behind me making sure that I was okay and I didn’t get it everywhere, because he knows he is the one who would have to clean it up.
“Remember that one night when you were drunk?” he started.
“Yes, I remember that one night I was drunk. Oh, crap. I think I might be pregnant.” I looked at him and almost burst into tears.
“Can you run to the store and get a pregnancy test for me?”
“Yes, babe.” He got up and kissed my hot forehead. I saw him walk out of the house. I took a shower. I looked down to my stomach.
“What if I am now going to be a mother?” I whispered to myself.
“Is everything alright, Charlie?” I heard mother. I got out of the shower real quick and wrapped a towel around my body. I sat down on the tub wall while she sat down on the toilet with the face down.
“Mom, don’t get mad, but I think I’m pregnant.” She looked at me and started to cry.
“My little girl growing up so fast.” She hugged me; she didn’t care if she got wet.
A few minutes later, Gabe came back with the test.
“That’s all I could find. There are two of them so just in case one is not working. I and your mother will wait out here in the living room.” I watched them walk out and I sat down on the toilet and did the procedures for the pregnancy test. The one said positive. I tried the other one just in case; it said positive again. I threw on my clothes that were in the bathroom and walked out of the bathroom.
It was completely silent and then I spoke up.
“Yes,” I said really quietly, “Yes.” I nodded my head up and down. I felt both of them crash me with hugs.
“I’m going to be a grandmother.” She couldn’t believe herself. I’ve never seen her happy before.
“Well, I’m going to be a father.” He laughed and then almost started to cry. He kissed my cheek and spins me around. We all were happy.
