She had falling back into her depressive state. Not leaving the bed or her room besides to use the toilet every now and then. Belinda would leave trays of food at the door for her, but she barely touched it.
Tupac kept calling.
The phone rang from downstairs as Belinda took a tray to the kitchen. "What do you want?" Belinda answered his call.
"I love your daughter, Mrs. Haughton despite e-"
"Mrs? There's no ring on my finger and you know what else?? there's not one on my daughter's finger either." She retorted. "Which means you don't really love her because if you did you would have been married, so have a nice day sir and stop calling."
"Bu-"
She hung up before anything else was said.
"God look at me," Belinda spoke. "I look and sound a mess." She caught her reflection as she went by a mirror. In a green bonnet, pink furry robe, and a face full of an avocado mask. This was affecting everyone horribly except Dekiya.
"I need to speak to her." Tupac kept repeating as he slammed the phone against his desk until Kadafi took it.
"Maybe it's best if you gave it time," Kadafi suggested. "She can't stay mad at you forever, homie. Shit! happens that's life."
"You know how it is to feel full one day then completely empty the next?" Tupac leaned back into the leather seat.
"Nah."
"I didn't think you did." He said dryly. "But if you ever do then please note that you've lost half of yourself."
Kadafi took that to heart. "God has given you a new piece of yourself though since you have a baby on the way."
He left his office afterward.
As Tupac stared at the ceiling fan with a mind full of things coming and going.
"What am I going to do when 9 months go by and there's no baby?" Dekiya whispered as she stepped through the shopping center with work friends. Her stomach was full of her last lunch, a caesar salad and that was all.
"You work at a hospital think of something." One of the nurses waved.
"Are you suggesting I steal a baby from Mekka?"
"No, I'm suggesting you get artificially inseminated by him." She explained. "I'll do it for you."
"Wait! that actually works?"
All three of them nodded in unison. "Mmmhmm."
"Then I'll need some of his..." She paused and her eyes widened.
"Mmmhmm." They repeated.
"How will I get some of his..."
"Think of something."
"Or you can just say screw her plan and go get knocked up by some wise guy. Then claim the child as Tupac's." Pam added. "But stay away from any papers before you be signing up for the next episode of Maury without ever knowing it."
"I'm positive it doesn't work like that." The other nurse shot back gaining everyone's attention in the store. "The whole show is rigged!"
"I know what I'm going to do," Dekiya smirked.
"What?"
She whispered her latest plan to them. All but one of them thought it was a good idea. Dekiya had always gotten her way. Today was no different than before.
