The boy who saved me

Prologue

I was standing in front of the mirror checking to see if my outfit was good. I had a white laced bikini on with a cover up, I checked my bag to make sure I had everything. "Sun screan, hairbrush, towels, snacks, and sunglasses" I said to myself.

"CMON AVERY WE DONT HAVE ALL DAY!" I heard Ethan yell. "COMING" I quickly grabbed all my stuff and walked down stairs to see Ethan my best friend in his trunks talking to my mom.

I ran up behind him jumping on his back. " Ready?" I asked. He nodded "Yup"

He grabbed his keys and walked out the front door. "I'll meet you in the car" I nodded and walked into the kitchen where my mom was.

I grabbed a apple and went up to hug my mom. "Bye mom, I'll be back later"

"Where you guys going?" She asked
"Cliff diving" I answered. She nodded and pulled me into another hug, she kissed my cheek "Be safe"
"I will, bye I love you"
"I love you too" She responded.

I walked out the house locking the door on my way, I got to Ethans car and started smiling.

Ethans my best friend, we have been friends since we were 6. It was during lunch at school when a kid dumped his food on Ethan, me being me went and stood up for him, We've been friends since.

"Hey bestie" I said as I hopped into the passanger seet. "Hey, so I have this perfect place to go" Ethan said. "Where?" I asked genuinely confused. I thought we were going to where we normally go. "Red lake, I heard its a really cool place" I nodded smiling liking my the idea. "What we waiting for then"

It was already noon by the time we had arived. "Lets go jumping for a bit then we eat?" I asked, Ethan just nodded walking backwards. He then ran forwards and jumped right off the cliff screaming. I laughed and walked to the edge.

"YOU SCREAM LIKE A GIRL" I yelled. I started to take off my cover up. I walked backwards a bit more than ran as fast as i could right off the cliff. "CANNONBALL" I yelle just as i went under water.

"Oh my god its freezing Ethan, why didnt you warn me" He just laughed and started swimming back to shore. "C'mon lets go again" He said, and i followed.

                   ~ 1 hour later ~

We were still jumping when we went back to eat. "Ethan, I'm hungry" I complained. He laughed "Well lets go eat"

We went over to the picnic tables and I took out all the food. I was mowing down sandwiches and chips while Ethan was sitting on his phone. I saw he still had his sandwich. "You gonna eat that?" I asked looking at his sandwhich. "Of course im gonna eat it you just ate 3 sandwiches" I laughed and then felt water fall on my face.

I frowned to see the sky starting to get dark. "Wanna jump once more then head home?" I asked. Ethan looked at me then at the sky. "Sure, why not, RACE YOU" He then got up and ran right to the edge and I was right behind him.

Ethan stepped on a sharp rock just on the edge and fell. I ran over to see if he's okay because there are rocks on the bottom. I looked down and he wasnt coming up. I didn't see him anywhere, and that's when I jumped in.

I spent 30 minutes looking everywhere for him and couldnt. That's when i went back up and called 911 even though I knew he was already gone.

I fell dropping to my knees and crying my eyes out. It was my fault, I said we should go jump one more time. It was all my fault, I just killed my best friend. The only person really there for me besides my mother.

I heard the sirens getting louder and lounder and thats when i stood up and gathered all our stuff. When the police showed up I told him what happend and thay I couldn't find him anywhere.

The day my best friend Ethan Doyle had died was the day that changed my whole life.
