Jeno's POV
Breathing heavily, we went downstairs while dragging Mark hyung with us. I can't believe Renjun let himself be a seeker. Being in oblivion is such a nauseous feeling.
Donghyuck led us inside a room and we closed the doors. What time is it already? Oh, right. Jaemin told us that time is frozen.
The tanned male clapped his hands. "Gather around, guys. We're almost there, that's why Jaemin interrupted our meeting just a while ago," We formed a circle, our wings slightly hitting each other.
"He said all we have to know now is how to defeat them." We nodded. "Firstly, let's recap what we theorized." I glanced at Jisung when he scoffed, smirking afterwards. "I think we already answered it."
Hope crawled into our hearts so we listened to Hyuck recall while Mark hyung finally came into his consciousness and listened to us.
"We're here now because the spirits that we awakened back then came to take revenge on us by using our Jaemin, but they used her first and she passed her monster slash demon to our friend. Now, we're here in this abandoned museum's confined space with endless floors and flights of stairs.
"We have to watch out for our mouths and bad deeds so that our demons wouldn't completely possess our body. Why would they possess us? So that they can have access to the mortal world and would be able to make Evil rule.
"How do we defeat them? I don't know." Hyuck finally finished talking and slumped on his back carefully, trying not to nudge his wings.
Chenle shrugged. "Do we kill them?" Mark hyung sighed. "We can't, Lele. They're already dead and they're just spirits; smoke for that matter. And how do you kill smoke? You can't."
Everyone of us was busy thinking of any possibilities on how to defeat Jaemin and our demons. I don't want to hurt Jaemin. He's still our friend. He was just forced to do this.
They're using all of us so that Evil can reign. I sighed. I knew we shouldn't have played those games. We could've played board games but instead, we messed with spirits, monsters then demons. How unfortunate could this be?
All of us are deep in thought. No one was still able to answer the question Jaemin provided for us. We are almost there but the last question is hard.
Or what if it's not? We're just thinking about difficult ways when indeed it's just easy. What if the answer is right under our noses yet we avoid it? I tried not to think too much outside the box.
I saw Jisung's eyes widen. "Oh my God." He gasped. We immediately gave our attention to him. "What is it, Jisung?" Mark hyung asked.
Jisung started motioning his hands while explaining. "The demons are using us, specifically our bodies, to get through the mortal world. We're their bridges. But what if.." He paused then gulped.
"..We're the only ones that are capable of such Evil force and the demons can't find any other candidates or humans to possess. And.. I know this might sound crazy but," He heaved a sigh.
I patted his back. "It's okay, Jisung. Take a deep breath." He started to tremble and his lips were quivering as well. "But what if the only way to defeat them is to cut off their bridge to the mortal world.. aka us?"
My heart instantly throbbed violently inside my chest. Jisung continued, "I mean they won't be able to find any other people to possess and if we're.. gone, then they won't have any connections. Evil wouldn't fully take over our world."
No one talked after Jisung. We gave each other unsure looks, having doubts if we should believe his theory.
The youngest shook his head. "But I could be wrong, okay? It's-"
"No," We turned to Donghyuck. "You're right, Jisung. I hate to see me.. to see us die, but it's for the world." He stood up from the floor.
I looked at the door and followed Hyuck. "Since we already figured out how to defeat them, we should probably get going. I feel them." I said. The others stood up after us and before we could even place a hand on the knobs, the door burst open.
"You're 'it'."
Samael touched Chenle. We pulled Renjun's body while Beelzebub took over Chenle. We were already prepared to run when Jaemin blocked our way.
"You can leave, Beelzebub," He told the demon. Beelzebub did as he was told and walked away from us. Jaemin turned to our direction with the same scary gaze.
"I see that you already found the way to defeat us," I noticed he said 'the way' rather than 'a way'. It means Jisung was right. It's the only way to defeat them. "But you have to reunite once again. The game is still on-going so good luck."
"You can't!" I shouted but Jaemin only laughed. "But I can, Jeno," He looked at us with a smile.
"I'd like to see you try to find yourselves again. Goodbye."
And with a snap of his fingers, we were separated once again.
I'm now in a strange room. What am I saying? Everything here is strange without it even trying.
My candle was already melting so I used the other one that was in my pocket. The new one lit up and I used it to study my surroundings.
It was still so dark but the place was familiar.. too familiar. I cautiously roamed around the room and I was right.
This search wouldn't be so hard.
I'm inside my old room in that mansion.
I went out of my room, my eyes looking around the place. "Guys!" I shouted. I immediately closed my mouth when I saw a pair of red eyes look at me from the staircase. It started walking towards my direction in a slow, menacing manner.
There was no other way down but there. "Oh, chicken wings." I cursed under my breath. Thank God I didn't spit out a bad word.
Guess I'll have to be the seeker then.
But before that, I checked the rooms in my floor. I remembered that the nearest one to mine was Renjun's so I went to where it was. When I went inside, I saw nothing but darkness.
Renjun wasn't there so I decided to find the others if ever they're in a different room. I continued to search in the floor and then I saw a candlelight not far from me.
"Hey!" I raised my free hand and waved it, trying to get the attention of whoever I saw. He paused from what he's doing and looked at me. "Jeno??"
"Donghyuck!"
From his face being excited, it became terrified and he repeatedly pointed behind me. "Jeno! Get away! No!"
Before I can even run, I felt someone touch my back.
"You're 'it'."
