PLEASE PLEASE READ.
Hello!
'Tis me, the weird and wacky author behind the book you're (hopefully) about to read. Straight off the bat, I want to say thank you for clicking on my story - I really hope you'll enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.
(The cover isn't centred properly, but I accidentally deleted the picture so we're stuck with it.)
This book, "The Happy Rules", is pretty heavy. It deals with topics like depression, suicide and unhealthy body images, so if you're not comfortable or just aren't in the mood for this type of story, then that's okay. When I was younger, maybe 10ish to 12ish, I was properly scared of talking about depression. I was literally scared of it. Looking back now, it was probably because I had low self-esteem: I didn't ever want to say anything wrong or out of place, or weird. And I didn't have the type of friends to discuss heavier, deeper topics with, and the same goes for my family. So if you're not okay with talking about depression for whatever reason, to me that's okay. But if you do want to talk about it, go ahead and DM me - I'm happy to listen. Because that's all you need sometimes, right? Someone to listen.
I will try and warn you guys ahead if there is going to be anything I think might triggering or just upsetting to read about. So, if you skip those chapters, I'll be sure to write a quick summary of the chapter if necessary. :)
One last thing - I'm Pakistani-British, so this story is set in England, and so obviously, there'll be English spellings and English schooling throughout. I may use a bit of British slang, but I'm sure most of you will be able to understand it, but if you don't, just leave a comment and I'll explain!
So... onto the story, I guess! Hope you guys enjoy. Please leave your opinions and thoughts in the comments, because I'd love to read them. Obviously, no hate or anything please.
LET'S GET THIS SHOW ON THE ROAD!
