Samantha McMillan was breathing heavily as she pulled herself across the floor, which was not easy as her hands and feet were tied. She was having a hard time catching her breath and felt a little dizzy. When she could drag herself no farther Samantha pulled herself to a sitting position against the wall.
She was so thirsty that she almost cried when she looked back to where she had started her worm like crawl. There behind a rock, where the two men had left her, sat a canteen of fresh water and a granola bar.
One of the men, the nice one, had even torn it open so she could eat it with her hands tied. Her day pack wasn’t there and she really wanted that. Samantha was too tired to even think about trying to get back to the water or food.
Why had no one come? The man that had left her the water had said someone would find her soon, but that had been before the big storm. She knew that because she could see the sky through a little hole that had been above her head in the spot where they had left her.
Samantha had to get away, get out, and back to her car. The bound woman tried to move again but her head began to spin. If only she had the water and food just over there on the rock she would be better.
She had felt this way before and she knew she was in trouble. Samantha tried to move again but she got so dizzy she fell back against the wall with a thud. She was sweating heavily now and the last thing she thought was how nice the dry desert air felt as it blew softly on her face.
