The sun was shining brightly as Emma entered the Dinner. It had been two weeks since the defeat of Cora. Two weeks of rebuilding and more paperwork than Emma ever wanted to file again. As always, the dinner was an epicenter of social activity. Ruby smiled and handed Emma a steaming cup of hot chocolate with cinnamon. Emma smiled her thanks and sat down in one of the booths. The bell chimed again. She didn't have to look up to know it was him. The scent of sea water and rum was enough of an indicator as the disturbed air carried the scent to her. He sat down across from her as Ruby brought him a cup of black coffee.

"Swan, you look lovely as ever." he greeted with a charming smile.

"Hook did you get that mess cleaned up down on the docks?" replied Emma.

Hook sighed and rubbed his brow, "Yes, though honestly I didn't think accepting the offer of harbor master would be such a pain in the-".

"Language! There are children present." Emma chided motioning to where the Mad Hatter and his daughter were having tea.

Hook shook his head and sighed, "Right sorry, Lass."

Emma raised an eyebrow at Hook's submissive behavior. The two finished their drinks in silence. After a quick good-bye outside Emma headed towards the Sheriff's station and Hook headed back towards the harbor. Emma glanced back at his retreating form and gave a small smile. From inside Ruby watched the small exchange from the register. She shook her head and turned back to hand Grumpy his change with a smile. But if she had kept watching then maybe she would have seen it. The brief flash of sadness in Emma's eyes before she continued walking to the station.
