Brielle's anguished cry echoed through the spacious living room, thickening the air with tension.
Tears streamed down her cheeks as she struggled to process the reality crashing down on her. "You can't be serious," she whispered. "You want me to marry a stranger? Just because he's your friend's son?"

Her father's face was cold, unreadable. "You're not a child anymore, Brielle. It's time you understood that marriage isn't just about love-it's about responsibility. Family."

"But what about me? My dreams? My choice?" she shot back, voice cracking.

"Enough," he snapped, his tone final. "You will marry him. End of discussion."

Her eyes darted to her mother-her last hope. "Mom, please," she pleaded, voice barely a breath. "Say something."

Her mother's gaze lowered to the floor. "Your father knows what's best," she murmured, almost too softly to hear.

Brielle felt her chest cave in. She stumbled forward and wrapped her arms around her mother, clinging to the only source of comfort left, even if it couldn't change a thing.

Meanwhile, in a quieter home across town, a different kind of conversation unfolded.
Finnigan sat still, hands clasped, listening carefully as his parents spoke.

"They've agreed to everything," his father said, pleased. "The families are on the same page. It's a good match."

His mother smiled warmly. "She's beautiful, smart-just like you remember. You're both lucky."

Finnigan nodded slowly. "Can I choose the rings?" he asked, almost hesitantly.

His parents exchanged a glance. "Of course," his mother said. "As long as you're committed to this marriage, we trust your choices."

He gave a small smile. "I am." His voice was calm, but inside, he was thinking of Brielle. Did she remember the moments they once shared-brief glances, unspoken words?

She probably hated the idea of this marriage. He couldn't blame her.

But he couldn't help but hope... that maybe, in time, she'd see him. And maybe, just maybe, she'd love him-eventually.
