Louis and Zoe; December 24, 2016

"Hey, Zoe?" Louis asks, taking his attention off of the road for a moment, to look at me.

"Yeah?" I say and look over at him, as well.

"I have a very serious question," he says. His expression confirms that he is indeed serious, which doesn't happen very often.

"Okay. As long as you pay attention to the road. I would rather not die today," I say, looking at him nervously. I'm not sure what to expect from him. Everything went quite well at breakfast this morning. We met up with his family for his birthday and he seemed to enjoy it. He doesn't get to see his family much because of tours and other events, so I think it meant a lot.

He chuckles, "Don't worry. I got this."

Suddenly the car swerves to the left a bit. I freak out from the sudden action, thinking we might crash, and lean back in my seat more with my feet firmly pressed against the floor.

Then everything went back to normal just as fast as it happened. I look at Louis to find his face so red it could be Rudolph's nose. That's how hard he is laughing.

"Louis! What the hell was that!?" I yell. He only laughs harder, which I hadn't thought was possible.

"It's not funny, Louis," I pout.

He grins, "I think it is."

He can be so annoying sometimes but I still love him. I have for a long time now. Today is actually our two year anniversary and also three since we met eachother. December 24 seems to be a pretty good day for us-Christmas Eve, Louis' birthday and our anniversary all at once-but it is also a little overwhelming.

"Whatever," I say. "What did you want to ask me?"

He stays silent for a few seconds, eyes on the road, and then says, "I forgot."

"Really? I thought it was ser-"

"Wait! I remember now," he yells and I cover my ears.

"Can you yell any louder?" I ask sarcastically.

"Well, yes."

Trying not to laugh, I say, "Just ask me the damn question, Lou!"

"Oh, right." He smiles, "Would you, my wonderful girlfriend, like to go out with me tonight?"

"On Christmas Eve?" I ask. "I thought we were going over to visit your family?"

He smirks, "Change of plans."

I think about it. I'm sure he knows what he's doing. Hesitantly, I say, "Fine. I would love to go out with you on this fine Christmas Eve."

He grins, his smile stretching from ear to ear, "Great! You're going to love it!"

I smile, "I love you, Louis."

"Love you too, Zoe."

"Zoe! Are you ready?" Louis yells from the other side of the apartment.

"Yeah, just a second!" I yell back as I pull on my boots. I finish getting ready, then walk out to the front door to see Louis standing there. He's doing something on his phone and has a weird expression on his face. One I can't read but it looks like he might be...upset? Maybe, nervous?

"Hey, Louis. What's wrong?" I ask, worried.

"Oh, it's nothing," he says and puts his phone in his jacket pocket.

I don't believe it for a second but I don't want to ruin the night, so I say, "Well, cheer up! You're the birthday boy."

He smiles lightly, "Yeah, you're right. Let's go." He walks out of the aparment and I follow behind. When we get to Louis' car he opens my door for me and I get in as he walks around and gets in on his side.
