Sometimes, tough times can be both a blessing and a curse. A double-edge sword that is so sharp, it leaves painful memories that turns into a scar.

The painful part that leaves us gasping and praying that it ends. The memorable part that makes us stay together and stick with each other.

And isn't that how leaders are being borned? Not the nurtured type, but those that are of natural leaders.

Leaders are not creatures that are made of perfection. They should not be idolised but instead, be criticised. Criticised not in the way you think, but criticised to become a better leader.

We have to acknowledge that being a leader is both rewarding and tiring. The role is not to please others, but more of a guidance, a role model and a support. Hence even when we give constructive criticism, we have to consider our tone. Afterall, they are humans too.

Leaders should not be chosen based on their experience for everyone starts from ground zero. Sure, some may say experience makes someone a better leader. But what about those who were not given a chance? They will be denied of a learning opportunity.

Tough times can give us an opportunity to see clearly who deserves a certain role. It is also to see who stands by us and who does not. But despite those who abandon others, the remaining ones will emerge to be stronger and more united than before.

So let's us welcome tough times with both arms and with an open heart. Embrace might not be a suitable word, but at the least, don't resist it. Resisting might make the tough times even tougher.

By welcoming it, we acknowledge it and we strive to get through it.
