The fourth week of school, a Sunday, I walk around town. I decide to go to the DX to see that Soda kid and Steve. I walk in and refrain from stealing.
"Hey, Y/N!" Steve waves.
I smile, "Hiya, Stevie. How's Evie and Sandy?"
"Not too good," Soda admits, "They got so mad at us for hanging out with you."
"Why do they get to decide who you hang out with?" I ask."They don't," Steve says.
"Yeah, they just strongly suggest," I joke, "Hey, can I buy this?"
I place a beer on the counter and they look at me funny.
"You don't look like the drinking type," Steve tells me.
"It's for my brother, he gave me money to get him and Bob a beer," I tell them.
"Alright," Soda shrugs.I hand him the money and put the beer in my cross-body bag.
"See ya, Y/N," Steve waves.
"Bye Stevie," I wave back.
As I walk home, a red Corvair trails behind me for a couple blocks. I had decided to dress like a greaser that day, of course I'd get tormented.
"Hey, look at the greasy girl!" A boy shouts, "Kinda cute, huh?"They park their car and I turn around, only to be met by a soc.
"Boys, boys, let's all just calm down," I say.
"We'll stay calm. Just shut your mouth and no one gets hurt," The soc in front of me says.
I knee him in the groin and try to run, but another grabs me. And pulls out a blade.
"LET GO!" I scream, praying that someone would hear me. Oh dear God, someone please hear me."Let her go!" I hear, and the boys all stop.
"Bob, c'mon, we're just tryna have fun," A soc defends.
"Pretty sick definition of fun," Bob pulls me to him, "Get outta here. And don't go hurting any other girls."
"Alright, you heard him boys, let's go find a boy to jump," The soc gets in and drives off.
"You okay?" Bob asks, facing me."I'm fine," I wipe my cheek, which had blood on it.
I guess at some point the soc had cut me.
"Here," Bob takes a handkerchief and wipes my cheek, "Why don't we go to The Way Out?"
"I don't wanna," I shake my head.
"Y/N, please let me take you somewhere," Bob frowns.
"You can take me home," I say coldly."Okay, home we go," Bob nods, "But we have to go to the DX first so I can clean the cut, deal?"
"Deal," I nod.
I get into Bob's blue mustang and he drives us to the DX.
I walk in with him and go to the counter while Bob gets disinfection wipes and a bandaid pack.
"Woah, woah, woah," Steve looks at me, "What happened?""The dyke got carved up!" Sylvia says, walking in with Evie and Sandy. She throws some pictures on the counter of the socs putting the blade to my cheek.
"You were there?!" I gasp, "And you didn't do anything? You were just gonna let me get hurt?"
"Evie, why didn't you help?" Steve asks.
"We were too far away," She says."But close enough to take a photo?" Bob scoffs, paying for the things.
We walk out and I lean up against the mustang.
"Thanks, Bob," I smile.
"Of course," He nods, "This might sting a bit."
He wipes my face and it hurts so badly.
"Fuck," I curse, "Sorry, foul mouth."
"It's okay," Bob chuckles. He places a bandaid on my cheek carefully. "You look pretty badass.""Thanks," I look down.
Cliché, I know, but Bob lifts up my chin with his forefinger and begins to lean in.
My heart beats faster as I don't know what to do. I want to kiss him, but I've never kissed anyone before. What if I'm bad? What if Randy gets upset? What if-
Bob's lips meet mine and I turn my head to the side.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to..." Bob blushes."It's okay," I say quickly.
I kiss his cheek and hear giggles in the DX. I look and see Sylvia with a Polaroid camera.
I'm honestly too tired to care at the moment and just let Bob take me home. He parks the car and waves to Cherry, who's my next door neighbor. Her bedroom window is right across from mine.
When we get inside he explains to Julia, Ted, and Randy what happened, minus the kissing part. The three of them thank Bob and I go to my room. After a few minutes he knocked at my door.
"Your parents said I could stay the night since I'm driving you in the morning," He tells me and closes the door behind him.
I let out a quiet 'okay' before sitting up in bed.
"I wanna talk about earlier," he says. Great, here comes the rejection.
"Alright," I mumble."I just wanted to say sorry," He states, "I know I should've asked first, and it was very inappropriate of me."
"I didn't mind," I blush.
"You didn't?" He asks.
"Not really," I shake my head.
"I thought since you... ya know, pulled away.." Bob tries to explain.
"I was just surprised," I say, "I would've kissed back if we were somewhere private.""Like here?" He asks, getting closer.
"Y-Yeah," I stutter, "Like here."
"So can I?" He leans in.
"Yeah," I nod.
We connect lips and they move in sync for awhile.
He puts his hands on my waist and I put mine in his hair.
Suddenly the door opens and Ted walks in."So I was think- OH LORD!" He shouts.
"Ted!" I whisper yell.
"What is it?" Julia yells from her room.
"There was a spider in Y/N's room!" Ted lies, "You two, get back to it. Just be quiet, we're trying to sleep And uh.. use protection."
"Ted!" I blush as he shuts the door.
Bob smiles at me and chuckles, "Quite the parent, huh?""Yeah," I agree, "That kinda killed the mood, right?"
"I don't know, I could keep going-" Bob began.
"Go to sleep," I turn the lamp off.
He gets into bed next to me and lays on his back.
"Goodnight, Y/N," he says.
"Night, Bob," I yawn.
I fall asleep thinking about my first kiss.
Wow.
