The entire day was spent on gathering what was left from the harvest. Winter was approaching and I had to make sure there would be enough provision.

Just as I was pulling out some of the remaining crops, a loud cry pierced through my ears. I looked back to see Luna struggling to escape a stranger's arms. Both Ki and Aurey were carried as well, not to mention that the boy looked unconscious. The men wore the same attire to the one of the person I had seen the day before. All of them were heading in the direction of a technodrone situated not that far away.

I bolted towards them, leaving all the farming tools behind. Never before had I run so fast. My lungs lacked oxygen, yet I wasn't willing to give in. My legs struggled to carry me along with the unstoppable beating of my heart tearing through my chest. Still, I couldn't stop, I couldn't let my family, my only family be taken away from me.

No matter how hard I tried, even after pushing it to my limit I still couldn't reach them. Instead, I was left to watch my siblings get boarded on the ship. The last thing I saw was a sight of Luna reaching out to me, shouting for help. How desperate I was not being there for her.

The door of the carrier closed, shutting all the access to the ship. It lifted off the ground and left leaving me without even a spark of hope of making them return. It soon vanished as if it had never been here in the first place.

I collapsed on my knees, a fountain of tears pouring out of my eyes. I was emerged in a mixture of anger, sorrow and guilt.

'I should have been there,' I scolded myself. 'I never should have abandoned them. They don't deserve such fate!'

Who could have known that my entire life would crash on a spur of moment. They were my everything, everything I lived for.

I kept asking myself 'What am I going to do?' I was left alone with no one to show even a strip of sympathy.

                               * * *
The heavy weight of my head kept me stuck to the surface of the bar table. My entire body was motionless, numbness taking over my limbs. I tried to help myself stand, but couldn't resist the exhaustion, both internal and external.

'Pathetic,' I thought to myself. 'You're just like your father. A puny man who gave into temptation at the sign of crisis. Might as well end up just like him '.

The whole world was non-existent at that very second. My mind was sane enough to self-rebuke, yet the tiredness of a drunk body was enough to make me close my eyes a surrender to a yearned for slumber. The chatter of plates, the barking of obnoxious customers, the squeaking of rusty door hinges - all has mixed into a sweet lullaby singing me to sleep.

3rd person POV

Hesper's petite figure has fallen asleep, her head lying on top of the table. She sat there peacefully, her body unresponsive making her vulnerable to the hungry eyes of the men around.

One decided to take advantage over the situation, making a step in approaching her. It seemed as though nothing could prevent him from getting what he desired the most - using the girl for his own dirty pleasures. Yet he didn't realize that he was being watched at that very moment.

In a dark corner a shadow kept a close watch on the man, paying attention to his slightest moves. Just when the girl at a hand's reach from the man, the shadow shifted from it's previous spot.

As the man hovered over the unconscious girl, it appeared behind him and patted the guy's shoulder. Just as he turned, a fist landed on his cheek, causing him to crash into a table where a group of thugs were gambling.

The man was on a verge of striking back, but was tackled by the gamblers instead, furious from having their game disturbed. As he fought back, one of the thugs missed to hit him and collided with someone else, who took it as a sign of offense and decided to teach them a lesson.

This caused excitement among the other customers, resulting in them joining the commotion. In the end the whole tavern turned into a battlefield with dishes flying and crashing everywhere.

While everyone got distracted, the shadow grabbed Hesper and carried her over its shoulder. The girl was carried over to a vehicle which brought them to a motel located not that far away.

Hesper's POV

It seemed as though I was dreaming. The whole world was spinning around like a giant carousel I couldn't escape. My back sank into a soft cushion, causing it to relax from a crouching position. I was covered with a warm material, assuming it was a blanket.

My eyelids opened for a second, revealing a pair of beautiful narrow chocolate brown eyes gazing at me with a soft expression.

Thereafter fatigue took over my body. I shut my eyelids and returned to my previous slumber.
