Taking a deep breath, I raised an hand and knocked on the wooden surface in front of me.
When a low rumble came from the other side, I opened the door, revealing myself and entering the office.

The male was seated at his desk, arms crossed, few tendrils of blonde hair falling from his man-bun. His eyes immediately zeroed on me, their light shade of blue darkening.

"Dr. Crawford, what a pleasant surprise," he said, a sly smile adorning his lips. His gaze roamed my body, leaving no place untouched. "Pleasant indeed."

He had said no more than ten words and I was already getting irritated. My wolf rumbled deep in her chest, annoyed by the insolence of this male. She didn't like that he was eyeing us as we were meal. Neither did I.

It was going to be a difficult conversation.

"Alpha Thaddeus. Alpha Thorne said that the journals were ready for me to pick up."

He motioned for me to sit, indicating the chair in front of the desk with his hand. Just the night prior I had been sitting there, in this office, when he had dropped the bomb of me being his Potential. And here I was, ready to drop a bomb of my own.
I sat, crossing my legs, and looked at him in the eyes.

He wasn't going to intimidate me.

"Yes, they are. I personally retrieved them from the library for you."

By the way he was looking at me, it was like he wanted for me to be impressed by his gesture. As he had provided for me, like a male would do for his female. As if. My beast expressed her disagreement with a deep rumble, followed by my own. I didn't need anyone to provide for me, especially not him. I was not his, nor I would ever be.

"It wasn't necessary to do that. I could have gone myself."

"I know. But I wanted to."

The insolence, the audacity, the cockiness!
He had no filter for his mouth. Mouth that was currently curved in a little smirk, a smirk that had no reason to exist. My wolf responded by showing her fangs, as to show a smirk of her own, even if a different kind. His was meant to tease; hers to bite and wound.

He patted a pile of books on his right side, showing me that they were the diaries. They were five, some thin, others thick; yellow pages indicating the oldest ones. I couldn't wait to dig into them.

But first, I had a thing to do.

I was about to do something that I never thought I would. I was about to admit something that I never thought I would. Admitting it to Alpha Thaddeus, but deep down I knew that I was admitting it even to myself.

Looking at him straight in the eyes, I addressed the main reason I came in his office for.

"I'm here even to talk about yesterday night."
