Deacon quickly hurried over to where leanne was waiting for him.
"You could have left me be! I'd rather be kissing a cute boy than at this stupid presentation where they tell us how to do freaking BIDMAS." Deacon whined
"You were... I'm not sitting through this alone you better join me dipstick. Bring your boyfriend if you want" Leanne almost lost her composure but covered it up quickly, and deacon thought nothing of it.
Perfectly on time, Francis appeared next to Deacon.
"Hey" he said softly, "I'm Francis" he introduced himself to Leanne and offered his hand for her to shake.
"Leanne" she replied, "Don't get too friendly"
They were ushered quickly into the auditorium and were sat down awkwardly near the front. Some way or other leanne had ended up In between the boys and she was not happy about it. Deacon was sat to her left, right on the end of the row, and Francis on her right. The boys shared an awkward look over leanne. Leanne hid a small smile behind a grimace.

Suddenly a guest speaker came out and stood in front of the large audience.
"Hello" he said very very slowly, "My name is Mr Vemo, and I'm going to be talking about the importance of maths in your day to day lives. You may think that maths isn't......" All the children started to tune him out.

Leanne fished a necklace out of her pocket and started fiddling. Francis not so subtly stretched his arm around Leanne to hold onto Deacons hand. Leanne recoiled away but eventually sat back into his arm, purely out of discomfort.

After 15 slow slow minutes that Deacon couldn't be sure weren't hours, the guest speaker finally finished. "And now, I'm sure you are all very excited, it is Mr Hegarty himself!" he drawled.

Oh sweet Jesus let the ground swallow me up.

Deacon sunk lower into his chair, and Francis shot him a questioning look.

He really hoped nothing bad happened.
