Mr Hegarty strode confidently onto the stage. He wore a 3 piece suit and looked absolutely glowing.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to the home of maths!" he said in a conversational tone, "I'm sure you brainy kids are itching to see if you've got what it takes in our maths challenge but first I'm going to talk to you abo...." Mr Hegartys sentence trailed of when he locked eyes with Deacon.
"YOU" he roared, making everyone in the county shiver with fear. He marched up to Deacon with fury never before seen and grabbed his collar, hoisting him up with ungodly strength. Deacon was more scared than he'd ever been in his whole life, he was shaking like a leaf in a tornado. Leanne and Francis immediately jumped to their feet.Mr Hegarty carried Deacon from the room round to what he guessed was his office, with Leanne and Francis in tow.
"DEACON" yelled francis
"FRANCIS" yelled Mr Hegarty
"LEANNE" yelled Deacon
"MR HEGARTY" Yelled Leanne
"FRANCIS" yelled deacon
"DEACON" yelled Leanne
"LEANNE" yelled francis
"MR HEGARTY" yelled Mr Hegarty
"DAD" yelled Francis
Everyone stopped yelling.
"D-did you just call deacon dad, I mean I know you... But really" Leanne stuttered
"What, no?!? This was meant to be the big reveal and you had to go and be sassy didn't you Leanne. I called Mr Hegarty dad" Francis whined
"U-your" Deacon gasped
"That's right, my full name is Francis Legarty Hegarty" Francis was almost out of breath, but still took a sigh.
"The middle name is a bit much Mr Hegarty" Leanne slid in
"Not the time Leanne" Francis retorted, "please, dad, I like this boy, don't kill him"
With that, Mr Hegarty turned and stormed out of the room, dropping Deacon on the floor."You like me?" Deacon asked quietly
"That's what you took out of that? Yes, he likes you dipstick" Leanne poked at him. Leanne started to have a look around Mr Hegartys office."This place is really sinister" she said, picking up a small portrait of Mr Hegarty from his desk. "Why has he got like tons of rope here?" she asked, holding some up.
"Were all climbers, it's how I got so muscly, we all do high climbs. I carry around rope in my bag." Francis replied, pulling out a thick rope to show them.
"OK, a little creepy" Leanne replied.
"I should probably go talk to my dad, this is probably a lot" Francis hurried out of the room.
Deacon had managed to crawl onto a chair in the middle of the room, looking out of the window.
"I've gotta go to the toilet, I'll be back in a min" Leanne said, also hurrying out. Francis heard and gave her a small nod. Deacon sat, and began softly crying.
