I was sitting on the couch and Eric was cleaning me up
" you're not moving what's wrong "
" it doesn't hurt "
He had to put two butterfly closures on my cheek and I said
" she had on a ring or something sharp "
" yeah "
He said and I could tell something was eating away at him he had a burning question
" ok what is it "
He looked me in the eye and said
" I heard what she said why did that last thing set you off "
I looked down at my hands
" umm when he'd beat me and I'd pass out or pretend to get him to stop when I'd wake up umm I could tell he did something because I'd be naked even though I had a few layers of clothing on before "
I felt a tear making its way into the cut and I looked up
" oh umm do people get in trouble for using steroids and stuff like that "
" why "
" she had tracks on her arm but they looked like they were maybe a day or two old "
" ok "
He smiled
" you know that was pretty impressive how you got over the table and how you took her down "
I smiled and he said
" I've never met anyone like you anywhere I think you even have some of the Dauntless born scared of you "
" good "
I laughed and so did he.

I was assigned to the fence like Eric thought I would be and on the way there the woman said
" We chose you 5 because you did an outstanding job in marksmanship "
I looked and Troy was there but not Tess I wasn't surprised because she's not a good aim. We got assigned to different spots and we were told the rules and what to do and we all did what we were told. We walked up and down and kept our eyes in the desalt land.
" let's go the next group is coming to start there shift "
My shoe came untied so I was tying it when I was pushed a little and hit the wire in the fence and it shocked me. I look up and it was Troy that did it I just acted as nothing happened. When we got back to the compound it was close to the end of most people eating so it was mostly all the people that work on the fence and I was kinda sitting alone at a corner of a table and I didn't really mind. I was almost finished when someone sat down across from me I looked up and it was a girl and a guy they both had a short black and red hair
" hello "
The guy said and I didn't respond and the girl said
" I'm Lilith and this is Seth we heard about you "
I looked at her and said
" oh great what did you hear "
She had a small smirk on her face and said
" We just heard that you were the top initiate and that you're one hell of a shot "
" and don't forget a good fighter "
I got an odd feeling from what they were saying so I said
" I'd love to stay and chat but I have to be somewhere "
Then Lilith said
" gonna go cry to Eric that we were mean and you couldn't defend yourself "
" what "
I was trying not to react how they wanted me to and she said
" oh Troy told us all about you and how you manipulated him "
I leaned forward to get closer and said
" What did he tell you really "
I could see they didn't want to say it but Seth said
" he said that you're the kind of girl that jumps on anything that gives you a second look "
" yeah did he tell you that his sister came up with that one because she's the one that's better between the two of them ... now I really must be going "
I got up and once I was out of there view I felt the blood in my hand and I looked down and realized that I was squeezing my fists so tight that I cut myself with my nails. I got back to Eric's well our room and just before I opened the door it opened and there was Eric. I stepped in and he closed the door
" So how was day one "
" I'll tell you in a minute I want to get out of this "
I motioned to the uniform and gear. I walked over to the dresser and got out a pair of pajama pants and a tank top all black of course. When I was putting on the tank top I saw that there was a red line on my left arm and I realized that's the fence somehow got through my clothes without damaging them and burned me a little. I stepped out of the bathroom and said
" well it was boring "
I looked up and saw Eric and Four standing in the middle of the room
" get out carter "
Four said and I just looked at them and Eric said
" she doesn't have to go anywhere Four "
I could tell they were in the middle of a fight about something then he said
" Carter I'll be back in a little bit ok "
" ok "
Four rolled his eyes and they left. I was tired from the day just watching nothing and walking a little was surprisingly tiring.
