The sun shined bright on the beautiful landscape of the Dragons' Aerie, the wind blowing gently on your face and through your hair. It was a peaceful morning, as always.
Or at least, it would have been if you didn't start to notice a few things about the well-known caretaker.
You had a good relationship with Lindel since the first time you were assigned as his personal assistant. He was kind, understanding, a father figure to the hatchlings... and soon enough you started developing deeper feelings for the blonde mage. You hid them everyday, knowing well that that kind of relationship wasn't meant to be.
You didn't feel bad though, quite the opposite. You were happy just by looking at his young smile and his sapphire eyes. Obviously avoiding his gaze every time he turned to you.
But something changed in the last few weeks.
There were more and more things that you started to notice each passing day.
They were insignificant, small details, something that a normal person wouldn't pick up easily. But you've been living with him for so long that it was even difficult not to notice.
Everytime he looked at you, he would shine his pearly smile in your direction. And you always looked away, trying to suppress the blush on your cheeks.
Everytime he took your hand to take you somewhere, he lingered a bit before releasing the grip. It was just for a second, but you could feel that something was preventing him from letting go.
These behaviors had become increasingly intense, however small they remained.
He would offer to go for the morning check of the area in your place, and you didn't mind it since your brain was still in dreamland in the early mornings.
He even prepared you breakfast with your favorite berries everytime he came back, even if you didn't remember telling him that you loved those fruits.
As you looked to the calm water of the lake, you heard a voice calling for you in the distance.
"Y/nnnn!"
"Merituuli, is there something you need me for?" You chuckled as you watched the Selkie run towards you.
"Lindel is been searching for you! It's almost lunch time!" He said as he jumped around you, "We should hurry back!"
You smiled at him, "I'm coming right away!" You said as you prepared to run, "I want a rematch, but this time you'll have to run! No more swimming, understood?"
He grinned as he started running before you could say anything else.
"That's not fair! Come back here, you sly seal!" You said laughing as you run back to the camp.
As soon as you reached home, you looked back to see Merituuli about 20 meters from you, trying to catch up with you with his short legs.
"Wohooo!" You said with your fist in the air, jumping at your victory.
"You won just because you didn't let me swim!" He said as he finally joined you.
"You're too fast in the water! I wouldn't have a chance!"
"You just have to admit that you're slow!" He said as he sticked his tounge out.
You did the same for a moment, before starting to laugh with him.
"I see you've come back finally! Come in before the meal cool off!"
You looked at the tent as you saw Lindel keeping the entrance open for you two to enter. You noticed as he looked at you, with almost dreamy eyes, his smile a direct attack to your heart. You averted your gaze before your imagination could start to travel off.
