Ch. 11

"Because he did that means we just killed three more Murphy's men, right?" Richard growled.

"Right." Doc nodded.

"Oh- jeez.. we're gonna hang for sure now." Charley panicked.

"What do we do now Dick?" Steve asks scared.

"Quiet!" Richard yelled.

"Everybody close their f'n lips for a d*mn second and let me think!" Richard said.

"We better skin out of here." Doc said.

"Okay." Richard agreed. "Everybody, skin up the river." Richard finished.

Charley was about to say something when Richard beat him to it, "NOW."

"Richard..." I said seeing him glaring at me as if he didn't trust me anymore.

"YOU!" He said to me mostly more than William.

He pointed his gun at me, "You better stop believing the newspapers. You ain't no Captain, and sure as hell ain't no Warrior Princess and for you no Robin Hood." He said to both William and I.

"Whatever you say Dick." William said Richard huffed and road away.

I went over to my horse getting on it easily and followed behind Richard the others did also.

The regulators were all siting on big boulders, Richard made a fire. As Doc was reading the newspaper, "Advices from Lincoln say the young women of lightning rapidity, iron nerve and marvelous skill apparently single- handedly took down Morton and Baker of the Murphy - Dolan faction including a miraculous shot of fifty yards" Doc said.

If only they knew....

Doc turned to look at them "There's a picture here." He said.

"It says Mary "The Runner" but that ain't Mary." Doc explained as Richard came to him.

"Let me see that." Richard said taking it.

Richard face was on it instead of mine, making Doc laugh "I guess you have a girl name now huh?" Doc said making me snicker.

"That's me..." Richard said fuming.

"That's bullsh*t" spat Richard. "Newspapers can't get anything right." He tossed the paper back to Doc walking away.

William, Steve and Charley came over joining Doc and I.

I looked seeing Richard upset, I decided to go over.

"Hey.." I said.

He just stayed quiet. "Look I'm sorry-" I felt lips on mine but I didn't feel like as if this was right I pulled away angrily and went back to the others.

"Mary!" Richard called out making the others look over at us but I just continued walking.

"Hey Doc come here for a minute?" I hear Richard say.

"Yeah." Doc said and I just go behind a large rock mountain as I leaned my back against it sighing.

It was night time as we surrounded the fire. I was sitting in between William and Doc.

The reason I didn't kiss Richard back was because I still loved William.
