-The odd egg sits there- will you pick it up?
A large, Golden-orange egg was about to hatch... It had been sitting there for a couple of weeks now. This was the day it was going to hatch.
A penguin came and picked the egg up, possibly knowing it was about to hatch. The penguin took the gold-orange egg all the way to the icy mountains, into a cozy cabin with its other penguin chicks. It set the egg down on the bed. The other penguin chicks gathered around the egg. The egg shook. The hatchling that popped out was not what they were expecting. The hatchling was different shades of brown, had big yellow eyes, and the beak of a predator. It was much bigger than the penguin chicks. The penguins looked at what stood before them in shock. The adult penguin then picked up the hatchling, who was almost as big as they were and said, "sorry, I only adopt penguins. " The penguin then took the hatchling back to the hatchery in the sanctuary. The hatchling was scared and confused. "Why have my parents left me here??" Later she learned that she had been abandoned and put back for adoption. This happened three more times with different birds, they picked her up then dropped her off somewhere. For some reason none of them could make up their mind.
She would sit in the corner away from the others. Eventually she never got adopted out of the hatchery, so they let her stay in the desert exhibit.
