Are you still awake?

Hermione patiently waited for the black ink to appear on the page but nothing came.

It was already nighttime. The noise from the party downstairs didn't reach her bedroom. It seemed like Muffliato spell was pretty useful after all.

I'm sorry, Sam. Please. Can we meet now and talk? Hermione's handwriting wasn't at its perfect state due to her uncontrollable shaking.

Five minutes had gone by and still no response from Sam. Students should have gone to bed right at this moment. Sam should have checked her messages by now.

Hermione sighed deeply as she gave up, closing the notebook before her. A tear then strolled down her face. She quickly wiped it with her hand. But then more came.

Hermione flopped down on her bed, wanting it to consume her whole. And now she couldn't stop herself from crying.

Sam. I felt so daft this afternoon, Hermione thought. I was so mad at you that I never got the chance to say I love you back. I love you, Samantha, so much, it actually hurts. It hurts that it took you awhile to say it. I fell in love with you way way back. And I was just waiting for you to say it or I was waiting for the perfect time to admit it to you. But I guess, timing is always cruel to us.

A soft knock on her bedroom door brought Hermione back to reality. It was Ginny. Hermione quickly straightened up and looked away, quickly wiping her face, eliminating all the evidence. She didn't want others to know she was hurting.

"Hermione? Are you okay?" Ginny asked as she closed the door behind her. "Why are you staying up here? Come on, Harry and Ron are starting another game."

Hermione shook her head and sniffle a sob.

"Hey there," Ginny said as she walked towards Hermione. She sat on the bed beside Hermione as she rubbed her back.

"First fight?"

Hermione chuckled then nodded. Ginny sighed. Then she said, "When Harry and I had these petty fights, we quickly got over it in a day. He gave me space while I gave his too. And then, we realized we missed each other too much to fight any longer."

Hermione chuckled as she wiped away the remaining tears. She thought about Sam and whether she needed space since she's avoiding her.

But then again, Sam admitted her feelings. Maybe she was embarrassed. Or scared Hermione didn't feel the same way back. Oh, Merlins, Sam, if you only knew.

"Come join downstairs. She's probably already asleep," Ginny continued. "You know, have a bit fun than be depressed here all night."

Hermione then smiled as she nodded okay. Maybe the party was all she needed to forget the regret and misery. For a while.

During the party, Hermione tried to be happy. They had fun playing the games Ron set out for them. Hermione drank a lot of Butterbeer and ate a lot of cauldron cakes.

Right after when Ginny left Hermione to dance with Harry, Cormac suddenly appeared before her.

"So where's your girlfriend?" Cormac asked. He must have yelled since the music Lee was playing at the moment was too loud.

"She's probably asleep," Hermione answered.

Cormac grinned before her as he leaned closer. "Great, then... I can have you all to myself."

Hermione then realized Cormac was attempting to kiss her. She gave all her strength to push him away so hard, he almost staggered.

"What the hell?!" Hermione exclaimed, her nostrils flaring.
