Kara was proud of her self-control. Since she came to Earth, she learned how to control every emotion, every urge, every feeling. Of course it wasn't easy. When she was 13, she had to be forced to calm down and keep her heat from vision would avoid burning something without warning, in addition she had to deal with the super strength. At 14, she was already able to camouflage enough sounds and prevent his x-ray vision from getting out of control. At 16 she could already give hugs without danger of strangling or fracture bones, in addition to being able to avoid floating. When she left college, she knew how to control almost all of her powers at will, preventing her from listening to very private conversations from her roommate and boyfriend. She managed that the slightest impulse did not explode. Everything went well.
Now, even though she felt in control, it was obvious that some feelings were pushing harder than others. One of the most intrusive and difficult to stop was anger, but she didn't have much of it, so it wasn't as worrying. Sadness and disappointment were no problem, since she had been used to suffering them since leaving Krypton, and last but not least ... jealousy.
Those adrenaline rushes that ran through the system and caused her brain to become cloudy for a few moments. She felt it for the first time when she learned that Alex was allowed to have sleepovers with her friends, something that she was denied. Envy also helped, jealousy of never being able to become like her sister, like a normal teenager and not with superpowers of which she had to be aware almost always. This was arranged with conversations and a little maturity.
The next strongest time, so to speak, was to see Lucy and James together. Since she couldn't look away in frustration at seeing the beautiful couple they made and that bothered her too much. There was also that time, when Cat got another assistant, which I congratulated each time.
Other than that, everything was fine. Everything in his life was more or less relaxed and calm. She had everything under control.
Until it wasn't.
If it was saying it and it's gone. Ugh.
Like another Thursday lunchtime, Kara armed herself with her best smile and the best burgers from Nonan's towards L-Corp. She went to reception, bringing a coffee for the blonde assistant who apparently wasn't behind her desk. Importantly, he jogged slightly toward the CEO's office. It wasn't until an unfamiliar laugh was alerted. Refining her ears, she heard another heartbeat that wasn't Lena's (not as if he had memorized it ... that would be weird, right?) and a light conversation. Cautiously entering, her presence was noticed by Lena, who gave a genuine smile that made Kara's heartbeat slightly faster.-Hello, Kara. Sorry, I had briefly forgotten you were coming-Kara smiled and advanced, discovering the mysterious person. She was a woman, quite pretty and who was too close to Lena to be considered a business meeting. Her hair was of a shiny dark hazelnut color, her eyes were gray and big, her face seemed oddly symmetrical and on top of it, she was dressed with good style. Kara became uneasy.
-Hey, I brought the food but ...- Out of the corner of her eye, she saw some wrappers and two glasses of wine -I see that, you are served -Kara said awkwardly, looking back at the brunette, who smiled with pity.
-Yes, Chloe has been kind enough to bring it to me. Although, where are my manners? Kara, this is an old friend of the boarding school, Chloe Owens. Chloe, this is Kara Danvers, my best friend and reporter of CatCo.-She presented, looking Two o'clock. Something felt wrong, Kara noted. Returning to the real world, Chloe got up on her (very) close seat to Lena and offered her the perfectly manicured hand. Kara gave a fake smile and shook her hand.
-Hello, Miss Danvers, Lena has told me a lot about you. It's like I already know you-She joked lightly, shaking hands.
Really, because she sure hasn't mentioned you. Kara thinks for herself before discarding the rude remark.
-Call me Kara, please, if you are a friend of Lena the formalities are not necessary. -She say in a slightly sharp voice.Once this was done, Chloe returned to her place.
-I'm very happy that you met.Chloe brought me some great sweets from Italy.-She mentioned.
-You know it's nothing, Lee. -Chloe said, stroking her arm. That burned something in Kara. Why did she touch her so much? And Lee? Only she called her that, but, apparently, she was wrong. She can't just go and...
Kara felt the pressure on her body build, as an unpleasant sensation settled in her chest. She recognized that feeling.
"Yeah, well, I guess I'll go share it with Winn or James",said, trying to keep his disappointment at bay. Lena didn't seem to notice the falsehood in her tone, but watched as the brunette tilted her head slightly. After a brief and awkward silence, Kara decided she needed to leave before seeing how Chloe went too far into what would be known as Lena's personal space. She concealed a growl.
-Well,then...I better leave if I don't want to be late. Uh, I suppose I'll see you on Saturday?-Kara asked, preparing to leave. Lena grimaced apologetically.
-Oh, I'm sorry Kar, but we are meeting on Saturday to catch up.-Lena said with pity.Kara only forced her lips to rise.
-Oh, it's fine, don't worry -She lied shamelessly, without giving importance but the always sweet and attentive Lena, did it.
-Raincheck on Monday? I don't have many meetings.-But Kara just nodded and muttered a "yes, okay" quickly and headed for the doors, politely saying goodbye to the two women. Not turning her head back to see to a confused Lena and curious Chloe
She had to leave, she must leave before everything he has strived for since he came to this planet gets out of control.

Kara had never felt the National City air so fresh. Her head was still not working clearly, so she decided to go to her apartment and calm down.Upon arrival, she threw herself on the sofa as if he hadn't slept in days. What the hell was that? The only thing the blonde knew for sure was that she went to Lena's office as always and how she found ... Chloe.Ugh.
Chloe, who she did not know about, Chloe who called Lena by the nickname that only she used,Chloe, who seemed sophisticated and who knew the brunette Chloe, who brought food to the busy CEO and seriously, how dare she? She was the one who always eats lunch with Lena! That's their thing! And besides, from Italy? Kara could bring her her favorite food from Paris anytime she wanted! .. No, stop.
That was selfish, Lena has the right to have the friends she wants. It was normal to be jealous of her best friend, right ...? But no, there was something else. She just didn't want it to be true. Besides, Lena will never replace her.
-Kara ..? Kara! We need reinforcements-It sounded through the interlocutor. Kara put on her suit and decided to let herself be distracted with a little action.
