His whole life, Wei Wuxian was brave to face everything and everyone not thinking about consequences. But now he was too afraid to come back home. First thing, he again left alone to a bar. This time not to drink, he was just bored at home and his husband staying long at his office. It wasn't even that late when he left but… now the sun was about to rise and he still didn't show up at home. He could, long ago, but he couldn't find courage to. While wandering around the city, he caught a glimpse of his own reflection in a shop window. A lip that had been cut now was swollen. The neck had not so big but visible hickey left by the straightforward girl, right next to a red mark of her lipstick left on a collar of his shirt. Maybe it was just his imagination but a scent of her perfumes stuck in his clothes. If Lan Wangji saw him now… it would be difficult to explain things. Wei Wuxian knew how he looks now and what kind of thoughts can come after seeing him. This man was the most patient and loving man he had ever met but… everyone has their limits. Everyone would feel broken if someone cheated on them. Wei Wuxian didn't do it on purpose but he still was afraid if his husband would believe him. He always was even if the whole world turned back to him. This thought made him smile, but his face had been covered with a shadow again in just a brief while. This won't be the easiest conversation. But he can't hide anymore. Not like for the thirteen years he did. He promised that to Lan Wangji.
He waited just a bit longer to an hour that his husband should leave to work. To buy himself some time to make himself look less terrifying. He will tell him that he stayed in a hotel not wanting to wake him up and walk at night to not bring any danger to himself. A white lie, they say.
Slipping into the apartment, Wei Wuxian was acting like he was breaking to someone's house. Turning around to look for any sign of his husband, his steps led him directly to the bathroom. First thing he should do was take off the shirt and cover the hickey. He was a coward, he can't let this man hear what had happened. He threw the shirt to a basket for dirty clothes. But no matter how deeply he was looking in all the stuff they had, there was no sign of anything that he could use.
Another thing he didn't know about was that his husband didn't leave the apartment yet...
The night has passed without receiving a reply from his husband. He was worried that he called him many times, but to no avail of reaching him
He was restless the whole night wondering why Wei Ying didn't say anything about not going home. He was gotten accustomed of being told whenever Wei Ying has smth important to do that he wouldn't be able to come home. But that night, nothing, not even a single word sent to him.He spent the night walking to and fro in their living room till he decided to go for a drive expecting to see him somewhere by the road. Called JC and his sister asking if they're with him, but to his surprise, he wasn't. He grew more anxious but he couldn't do anything for now but to wait in their home.
That early morning, he decided not to go to work and wait for his husband to come back instead. He was sitting on the sofa but dozed off in the end. Just then he heard subtle noises coming from the bathroom and so he rushed over to check if it was Wei Ying, and indeed it was him.
"Wei Ying?! "
His voice slightly trembled as he hugged his man so tightly, as if he never saw him for months or years. His hearbeat was pounding heavy and loud. He was relieved. His lips curved into a smile and was about to ask his husband where he came from when he pulled away from the embrace.
His eyes widened, brows furrowed. He was dumbstruck at the sight of his man's lips.
"Did ...you get into a fight? "
He asked, worried, and gently he touched Wei Ying's lips with his fingers, then scanned Wei Ying's face for a bruise or cut thinking that his husband was caught in a fight, but what blew him was the sight of an obvious kiss mark, that wasn't left by him. His adam's apple bobbed. Lost of words. He was left stunned .
