"TO YOUR LEFT Y/N! SIDE STEP BACK TRAVEL! COME ON YOU CAN DO BETTER!"
I swear to god if I hear my father yell at me one more time I'm going to-
CRASH
Author's POV
Y/n slammed the guard into the glass wall behind her, breaking the supposedly "Unbreakable" glass. Her anger was radiating out of her now, and she was taking it out on the poor guard. Every Monday and Wednesday, she has battle practice. "All princesses should know how to fight, dear Y/n." Her father once told her. She knew he didn't care about her safety; he just wanted her to win the Queen's Detection this year. She would be going up against hundreds of other princesses from all around the world, to get the throne.
"Good job Y/n. I knew you had it in you." Her father called out as she shoved past him and into the hallway. "Your Majesty, You have a meeting at-" Her assistant, Lein began, but Y/n shut the door behind her in the girls face and ran to her bedroom. She didn't understand why her father wanted her to compete in this useless mess. She shut the door behind her and slid down the door, releasing all her inner demons within her room. She cried deeply and punched the wall beside her. "I don't get it, why does he want me to do it?! I don't even want this! I just want to marry who I want! Not some high-horsed man with money and power! Ugh!" She threw a vase across the room and she felt the blood pulse through her veins. This wasn't a normal world, no. She lived in a world of power. Magic and money surrounded her everywhere. Everyone had the same blood, but not the same power. You had to fight for what you wanted; and in this world, that's cruelty and superiority. You had to know the best to be the best.
"Y/n, honey, are you okay?" Her mother called from the other side.
Y/n's POV
I gathered myself and slowly stood up, turning around to open the door.
"Yea mom, I'm fine." I opened the door to see my mothers' sad eyes. "Are you sure? I know your father can be rough, but you know he's only doing what's best for you darling.." I nod and she pulls me into her embrace. I always loved my mothers hugs. She understood me, since she had been in my place before. Nothing here is by choice. You follow the rules or get executed. It's always been like that. Always.
"I know mom.. It's just.. I don't want this. I want freedom, and choice. I want to fall in love with who I want, not who I need. I don't want to go to Queen's Detection.. I don't even know anyone there.." My mom led me over to my bed with sadness in her eyes still. She sits beside me and puts a strand of hair behind my ear. "I know, Y/n. I know.. I wish I could do something. I really do darling, but you know if I do.." I sigh and finish the sentence for her. "I would be banished and you would be killed." She hold both of my hands. "When you say it like that, It sounds horrible." I sigh once again and look her in the eyes. "It's the truth though, is it not?" This time she sighed, and pulled me into another hug. "I'm sorry, Y/n." I hold back tears and wrap my arms around her. "It's not your fault, mother."
20 minutes later
I had been doing some work at my desk when my assistant walks in. "Your Majesty, You-"
sigh
"Lein, I told you to stop calling me that. I'm not even the Queen." She's been my friend since we were in diapers. Her mother is the chef, so I spent a lot of time with her. "Yet." She finishes, smiling and walking over. She always thinks below me, as if I am more then her. I just want one friend who doesn't think about royalty all the time. "Lein, not now. Please." I stand up and she just smiles. "Right this way Y/n."
After the meeting, I went back to my room to get some sleep. "Man, I look like crap." I looked at my small frame in the mirror, and my messy hair and clothes. I felt embarrassed the council had to see me like that, but it's whatever. It already happened. I make my way to my giant bed, with soft sheets and thick blankets, and cotton pillows laced with silk.
"Goodnight, ugly world."
I wake up the next morning, light spewing from my curtains and birds chirping on tree branches. I sit up and stretch my arms. "Another day, another pain." I feel a light weight jump up on to the bed and I giggle.
"Morning Opei, how are you?" Opei, my small Pomeranian puppy, had jumped on the bed and was yipping with excitement. "Go get it!" I toss his squeaky toy that he set in my lap and he yips as he jumps off the bed to chase after it. I chuckle and hear my door open. "Your Ma- I mean Y/n, Your father is requesting you." I sigh, what does he want to talk about now? "Okay Lein, I'm coming." She nods and shuts the door behind her, and I step out of bed.
I put on a casual outfit, a white cotton long sleeved shirt and a dark red velvet skirt. What? You thought I lived in some world of those big fat dresses people wear? You're wrong. I mean, I still have to wear formal dresses when I go out, but no ridiculous outfits or crazy hair styles like you saw way back then. I make my way down to the big office room, and knock on the door.
"Come in, Y/n." I open the door and step inside. "You asked to speak to me, father?" He nods and points to the chair in front of his desk. "Come sit darling, we have to go over some things." I sit down and smile at him.
"So Y/n, as you know, we are leaving for Queen's Detection tomorrow and-" "TOMORROW!? DAD WE ARE SUPPOSED TO LEAVE NEXT WEEK!" I yell, this was completely unexpected. "The paper said we didn't have to be there until December 4th and-" He holds up a hand, signaling silence. "I know Y/n, but it's better if we go early and learn the grounds so we can train you better." I was outraged, this was ridiculous. "But father, I-" "No buts, Y/n. If we go then we will have time to up your powers and train you so you will be good." he wouldn't let me speak. "Father," "Y/n. WE are leaving tomorrow. All of us. Me, your mother, and you. That's final." I scoff and storm out of the room. Who in the world does he think he is to just sell me off like this? I didn't even want this at all. Why couldn't he have had another child before me so I wouldn't be in this stupid mess?
I run outside to the horse stalls and pull open the doors. I take the reins off of the stand and put them on Raneji, and hop on. I went off of the trail as far as I could go. I wanted to be far away. As far as possible. To run away from this stupid mess. It's utterly pointless. Jumping over broken logs and piles of moss or leaves, we eventually reached a meadow. I get off of Raneji, and tie the reins over a tree. I was so mad, I could feel the power building up in me. I screamed and closed my eyes as I pushed my arms outward and I felt my energy fading. I opened my eyes and realized what I had done. I started to panic as I saw the trees surrounding us on fire. Raneji started panicking too and I started to shake.
What do I do? How do I stop it?
I pointed my hands outward once more and closed my eyes, pushing.
Nothing happened.
Crap, what now? I looked around and saw the fire spreading majorly. I closed my eyes once more and focused, relaxing my body. I felt energy dismaying from my body once more, and I opened my eyes.
"I did it! Raneji I did it!" I twirl around looking at the trees to see all of them back to normal. I trot over to Raneji and attempt to calm her down. "Raneji I-I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you.." I wrap my arms around her and pet her. She calms down, and nuzzles my hand. I giggle and hop back on her.
