Ema's Pov;
Japans Gifted Agency;Besides my regular classes at UA I had to take classes at JGA. There were a few of us known as legacies. It was pretty cool, there was one like Double-Cross. He could create illusions, instead of making you believe what he wanted you too. I could see through them, though. So the afternoon was spent trying to make me see the illusion or use their power on me. Trying to find a break in my gift. Before I knew it my Dad was here and it was time to go home.
"How was it, kid? Any different than hero training?"
"A lot different Dad they look for gaps in our powers. Test our limits. So that we can train and protect ourselves when our limit is reached. It's kinda how, if you have to use your quirk to long your eyes get really irritated and dry, and it's hard to use. You have something to fall back on like your fighting style, Dad. Mine is I'll black out, if I use it all over a great number of people it takes a toll on me. So my body shuts off to help me reset. So I'm learning how not to black out, basically I'm learning to rely on other skills. I was wondering if you could teach me how to fight. Not with your capture weapon. But basic hand to hand."
He was silently laughing and I knew at what.
"Daaddd!"
"You still hate my capture scarf huh, kid?"
Everytime I got into something as a toddler, he'd use it to catch me.
If I ran off from him, he'd grab me with it and pull me back to him. He never said anything to me about it no grounding, no yelling, no slaps to the back of my head, nothing, just this disappointed look. Like he knew I was better than that, why couldn't I see it, too. So I began to see the scarf as a form of discipline letting me know I had made my Dad disappointed again.
"I don't really hate it. I just hate what it means to me. That I've done something that's disappointed my Dad and I know I'm better than that."
When I finished talking I was being hugged in the tightest Dad hug ever.
"Dad, can't breathe!"
"Sorry kid, I'll teach you how to fight."So began our new fight training. Since I had a super busy schedule. As UA was a six day school versus the standard five with club activities on Saturdays. Plus I have to attend classes at JGA three times a week. So my Dad and I picked Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. My Dad taught me how to cover my weaknesses and play up my strengths. I was getting better. As Dad could only take me off my feet three times by the end of our second week.
Three months later
Ema's Pov;JGA had been attacked by the Guild of the Gifted. They actually tried to talk us into joining. When we all refused they attacked! We fought and won. A few of the members were arrested, including the man responsible for my Mom's death Double-Cross. His real name was Hans Fenbrook. I was waiting at the police station for my Dad.
"Ema honey, you okay?"
"Dad, we caught him he's on his way to Tartarus prison now."
"The JGA caught Double-Cross?"
"Yeah, Dad! We got him, I identified him myself. I'm afraid they'll be back, or try to convince us to join them, again!"
"And you'll be ready for them. Everyone at the JGA is the child of a hero and a gifted. You are the best of both of them, remember that Ema."
"I will Dad, I will. He doesn't know who said he killed her. Just someone picked his photo from his mugshots. The guild doesn't know that I'm her daughter, yet!"
We left the police station, and I tried to put this behind me.A few days later I was walking down the street and saw Deku and Mirio. They were both in their Hero costumes. I waved at them distracting them. When a little girl came flying out of the alleyway right into Deku. I ran over to be sure everyone is alright!
"Hey you guys okay? Hey sweetie you hit pretty hard you okay?"
She was clinging to Deku as tightly as she could. That was when I felt him behind me! The negativity of his power coming over me. I shut down he's quirk feeling afraid for the very first time in my life. I could barely hear what he was saying to the others until he made a threat towards the heroes. Telling the frightened little girl called Eri in those threats that she wouldn't want to cause problems for the heroes. That was when I stepped in. Stopping her from going to him. I felt the little girls power then. Understanding that it was just as dangerous as the man! So I turned her off too! When I felt a hand touch me. I saw the shock in his eyes as his quirk didn't work!
"Could you go back to the heroes Eri? I promise everything will be fine. He can't hurt me or anyone else right now!"
"How are you doing this? No one has powers like that!"
"Hey Aizawa you need some help here?"
"Hey Miko, think you can lock him in a delusion until my friends come back?"
"Sure thing, let's see what you fear shall we."
Miko's gift was fear she could read your deepest, darkest fear and lock you inside of it. It was pretty scary cool. I watched as the man in the plague mask fell to the ground holding himself begging for it to stop. When Deku and Mirio, or Lemillion when in costume returned with a man in glasses.
I noticed the hero didn't look very happy with us.
"You children could of been hurt and you aren't licensed to use your quirks in public yet. I'll have to be sure you are reprimanded for this."
That was when Miko spoke up.
"So sorry we're with the JGA and have a special circumstance license. The JGA used to be called the Armed Detective Agency. We have the right to bring down anyone who threatens one of our members! Aizawa wasn't in any real danger as her gift is called no longer human. It cancels out quirks and gifts alike. That's what she did, she felt the danger to herself and the others, and shut him down! Any other questions please feel free to contact the JGA! I'm out, you staying or coming with me Aizawa?"
"I better stay Miko knowing Lemillion he called my Dad."
When Miko left the hero spoke again.
"Since your very rude friend has left, may I ask your name and how Lemillion knows your father?"
"You can ask me yourself Nighteye."
"EraserHead how are you? What is your interest in this situation?"
"Well that's my daughter right there."
I watched as Nighteye looked at us closely seeing my father in my looks but noticing something else too.
"She's Rena's daughter isn't she Shota?"
"Yeah, Rena's dead Mirai. Died protecting Ema, she had to hear it, her mother hid her in the crawlspace beneath the house"
When they started talking about Mom I ran from the alley onto the street where I saw Deku and Mirio the little girl Eri was gone, probably with another hero to the hospital. I still haven't turned her powers back on yet.
"Hey Ema you okay, your really pale?"
"No, Izuku I'm not! They were talking about how my Mom died, and that's hard for me."
When my Dad, the police and Sir Nighteye left the alley as well as the guy. Still locked in his nightmare, was carried away, too. When Sir Nighteye knelt down in front of me. Placing a hand on my shoulder.
"I knew your mother. She was a very kind girl. We were neighbors, I would help her with her studies sometimes. I was hopeful that she would go into hero management. Then I could hire her to work for us. That wasn't her plan she wanted to marry your father from the moment they meet. She could make me laugh, when I was in the darkest of moods. She was my best friend you know. I hope to get to know you as well, if you'll let me."
I could only nod. He stood and left me. I watched as he started to leave.
"Wait can I come with you? Will you tell me about my Mom? If that's okay Dad?"
I watched as my Dad nodded at both of us. He placed his hand on the opposite shoulder guided me towards his vehicle.
"Umm what do I call you, Sir?"
"Your Mom called me Mirai it's my first name my full name is Mirai Saskaki. I don't mind you calling me Mirai, like your Mom."
"Okay, I don't have many memories of my Mom. She talked of a friend who's name meant future. I'm guessing that was you as one of Mirai's meanings is future, she said if I ever met you, you could make me smile even when I was sad. The anniversary is coming soon you should join us...... Oh the little girl her powers are unstable. I still have her powers turned off. But I think she can completely erase someone, not just their quirk!"
"I'll let the doctors know that thank you for that."
We stopped at a coffee shop, entered and sat down at one of the tables.
"I won't ask you about how she died, your father gave me an idea. I would like to know how long you were in the crawlspace?"
"A little over five hours. I had a emergency beacon that told my Aunt, Mom's sister, something was wrong. She came and got me, found my Mom. She covered my eyes I didn't see anything. But I heard everything. I still have nightmares sometimes."
"I'm so sorry, it's Ema, right?"
"Yes, it's Ema."
"She always said that was the name she wanted for her daughter."
He drew the kanji for my name on one of the napkins 惠万,
"This one means 惠" is blessed, and this one means 万" is ten thousand, I remember her saying it was a beautiful name for a girl. That she would know how special she was to her parents. I'm very glad to have met you. Knowing a piece of Rena still exist in this world."
We spoke for hours. I even made him laugh, when I got my dessert on my nose! I enjoyed being with him it was really fun. I could see why my Mom called him, her best friend. He dropped me at home a little later. With plans to meet up again. He was going to take me to see the house where my Mom lived.
