The Boy

Some times, when I close my eyes, I can see him. Not clearly but he's there. He sort of stares, but what at? Who is he?

"PATRICA!"

I look up to answer to my name.

"Yes Miss?"

"The answer?"

"Oh, um..." I look at the black board. Shit. Algebra. I here people whisper the answer. "18" I said.

"Next time Patrica, pay attention."

Looking down and pretending to be embarrassed and got on with my work. I hate my school. Mixed boarding collage... Everyone here is either uptight or so immature that its not worth speaking to them. As the lesson ended, I decide to go to my dorm. I needed to rest.

As I walk through cold corridors to my dorm, I think of the boy in my head... I try to picture him but I can't remember what he looked like. Did he have long or short hair? Was it brown or blonde? Was he tall or short? He was so blurred, I can't remember. My thoughts where rudely interrupted by screaming from my dorm. I walk in and my dorm mate waves at me. Her name is Carly. She's my best friend. She's beautiful. She is tall with long blonde hair and piercing green eyes. She's pale as snow with freckles only in the top of her button nose. I've always been rather jealous of her. Me, I'm short with dark brown medium length hair. My skin's an olive colour and I'm covered in freckles. My eyes are a sort of hazel colour. It's not a good combination. Carly turns to me and says:

"Guess what!?"

"What?" i asked.

"You have to guess Trix"

"Ok, um... You snogged some guy behind the Art department?" I asked sarcastically.

"No" She scowled. She was even attractive when she scowled. "We got invited to Kate Alments party in the woods on Friday!" Kate is the popular girl who all the other girls want to be at my collage.

"Great. Have fun" I say, turning to put my books down. Most dorm rooms hold four girls or boys. Ours is for two girls only. Its great really. Our dorm is 'n' shaped. You are greeted by our fireplace as you walk in. To your right, Carly's side. All blue and floral and pretty... Her bed, parallel to mine, had silk sheets with birds on them. To your left was my side. The walls where covered in posters of bands and people that I liked. My bed sheets where dark blue and grey. They where made of a normal cotton. Down at the bottom of the beds was a small corridor on each side, creating the 'n' shape, about 2metres long, and at the end to one side was a walk in wardrobe behind the fireplace. It wasn't very big, but it was big enough. In front of the fireplace we have a desk for course work.

"Aww, Trix please come!" Carly begged. She did it every year, and every year i went.

"Fine, but I'm not dressing up!" I say finally.

"Yay! Thank you. I owe you one"

"You owe me loads" I laugh as she scowls and gets on with her course work.

"So, why aren't you at your next lesson?" Carly asked, in effort to make conversation.

"Had a free lesson. I need some rest. Not been sleeping very well recently."

"I noticed. Why?"

"Studies" I replayed. I was lying. It was really because i had nightmares, full of gore and murder, and they kept me awake. In everyone he was there. The boy. He was the one committing these horrid crimes, taking innocent peoples lives at random.

"I see" Carly said. I stared at her and it dawned on I had forgot to ask her why she wasn't in lesson.

"Oh, Why aren't you in lesson then" I asked.

"Behind in some lessons. Though I would take a couple of covers out" By covers she meant that the teacher we normally had wasn't there and a spare teacher would fill in. In those lessons we had the choice to take it out for studying or go along and probably watch a film that is irrelevant to the course.

"Cool. Do you want a hand?" I asked

"Actually, can you go to the court yard and gather some leaves? For the art nature project." She grinned at me.

"Sure!" I said and in a flash, I was gone.

Friday came fast, I got more anxious about the party. I got on with Kate but I knew she didn't like me. I could hear her whisper mean things about me as I walk by her in the corridors. I knew I would have to look perfect for her even to talk to me today. I didn't care but Carly did. But she refused to leave me alone at all at the party so I knew this meant makeover time.

"Oi, Bitch!" It was Carly. It was 'cool' to insult people as a greeting apparently. I turned and faced her. "I have the perfect outfit for you!" She carried on. I watched her pick out the stuff she wanted me to wear and then laid it against me and said yay or nay to each thing. As fun as it was, i was fed up already.

"Okay done" She said finally. I smiled at what she had placed out for me. A plaid skirt of balck red and green, like a kilt, A white top with a black bow on the collar, a black belt for my waist and my docks.

"Nice" I said.

"Your gonna look so amazing and Kate's even said you can hang with us!" She smiled.

"Great!" I said. I hung it in the wardrobe for later. Carly got her outfit ready, I started on my make up and I zoned out, thinking of the boy. I had a dream with him in last night. A nice one. He sat on a rock and cradled my head, singing lullaby's to me. His voice was sweet and deep. It made me smile to think about it. I still can't figure out who he is though. Carly looked at me;

"Ready to go?" She asked. I smoothed my skirt down.

"Yup" We made our way to the front entrance of the collage and showed our slip to be signed out. A huge group of us made our way to the woods.We could here the loud rumble of chatter and music as we entered the woods to go down to the party. Me and Carly where at the back of the group. I looked at my surroundings so I would find my way back. A small whisper came out of no where;

"Patricia! Patrica! Find Me!" I turned to see if Carly was being silly and trying to scare me but she was busy talking to some guy.

"PATRICA! COME FIND ME! COME FIND ME!" My head turned sharply as I saw a flash of movement through the trees. And suddenly, there was nothing.
