Chapter 12: A Clue to the Past

Myr POV

"You what?!" I exclaimed.

"Yeah. I found a clue about who you were in your previous life." My mom said.

She held out a burned box. It had the intials, G.K., on it.

I took it from her hands and I looked at it.

I turned it around in my hands examining it as I saw ash falling off of it.

"Well, I can't get the box open yet without completely breaking it apart. I'll keep trying though." She said.

I stared at the box studying it.

"Well? Anything?" My mom asked.

"....nothing. I don't remember this box at all." I said sadly.

"Oh well, there's always next time honey." My mom said hugging me.

I hugged her back then I gave her the box.

"I'll keep trying to open it. Maybe whatever is inside will trigger your memories." My mom said hopefully.

"Yeah. Hopefully." I said forcing a smile on my face. "I'll go put Maxi to sleep."

I walked to my room where I saw Maxi on her usual perch.

I walked up to her and stroked her head.

She made a purring sound and leaned into my touch.

"Oh Maxi, at least you know who you are. Me. I'm not sure if I'm Myr or if I'm someone else." I said sadly still stroking her.

At school

"So class, open your textbooks to page 2004. We will now be studying the Industrial Revolution and its effect on American society." The history teacher said and started his lecture.

I was thinking about the box and staring at the ceiling so I wasn't paying full attention to what he was saying.

"Hey Myr." Jocelyn whispered to me. "Can I borrow your notes?"

"Hmmm? Oh sure. Why though?" I asked still lost in my thoughts.

"I saw your notes and you were literally writing down everything he said." She said taking my notes. "Thanks. I'll return them at the end of school."

As we were leaving the classroom we saw a blur streaking towards us and instantly arms wrapped around both of us.

"E-erica?" Jocelyn said.

"Y-you're awake?" I asked shocked.

"Of course I am silly." Erica said laughing. "I wanted to see two of my bestfriends."

"We missed you too." Jocelyn said and we both hugged her back.

"What about my hug?" A voice behind her said.

We looked and saw Yuri standing them looking at us shyly.

We all laughed and hugged her making her blush.

"Hey, don't count me out." said a voice and suddenly a pair of arms wrapped around us.

We all turned to look and saw Nowead there grinning.

"Eeeww! A guy! Get him out of here." Jocelyn said turning up her nose.

"Will do ma'am." I said and I wrapped my arms around him and tugged him away.

"Nooo! I want to hug my friends!!" Nowead said struggling. "Curse you villian." 

"Thou shall not reach your goal today." I said laughing then we bumped into someone.
