Annabeth POV
Smoke filled everywhere. It's not like I haven't been in worse situations, but I'm just sooooo mad the stupid fire ruined my date with Percy. And also, normally French Cafes don't just go on fire, someone is definitely behind this. I'll think about that later, I made a mental note to myself. suddenly, someone grabbed my hand from behind. Automatically, I whipped out my Celestial Bronze dagger and pointed it to my attacker's throat... it was just Percy. I lowered my blade and he dragged me toward the exit.
We run toward the oak wood double doors, luckily everyone has been evacuated. We were almost there when someone moving so swiftly blocked our way... too swift for a mortal. I saw Percy taking out the Riptide in its pen form, but he did not extend it to its sword shape. He must not want our opponents to know how powerful we are yet. Smart seaweed brain. The person (or monster) who blocked our way is a teenage boy...Well, at least he looked like a teenage boy. He was dressed in all black, with ebony hair tumbling down his head and startling violet-blue eyes... and he was... OK, I'll admit it... extraordinarily gorgeous. The strangest thing about him though, is the tattoos all over his neck and armes. He looked intimidating, but seriously, Percy and I have fought THE king of the freaking Titans, The God of War, and the Earth itself...And won. So, I wanted to say: "Sorry dude, but it looks like you've bumped into the wrong demigods today." But, being the wise, calm, un-sarcastic, daughter of Athena. I said the one thing that never goes wrong: "Who are you and what do you want?!" I said this in my you-would-back-off-if-you-know-what-is-good-for-you voice, which always works rather finely. I can see this guy was trying to keep his face expressionless, but his surprised expression still showed. It is as if people usually run away from him instead of facing him off, which might be true, considering he looks very intimidating-to-mortals. "I can ask you the same question, my lovely." he said in a melt-girls'-hearts voice, and also with a elegent British accent. Unfortunately for him, that seemed to finally set Percy off. He whipped out his Riptide and I had the pleasure in seeing the guy flinch. "Excuse me, what did you call my girlfriend?" said Percy in his I-will-personally-feed-you-to-a-great-white-shark voice. But the mask was back on the beautiful stranger's face. The guy smirked, and looked mock-surprised: "Well I'm sorry, but I did not realize someone like her would even look at someone like you. Anyways, I'm Will." He hold out a hand. I'm serious, the Will guy actually hold out a hand. I mean, if he wanted to keep that hand he would not have held it out to someone he just deeply insulted AND who is holding a two-foot long gleaming bronze sword.
Percy didn't shake it, Will actually looked kind of disappointed, at least Percy was nice enough to not slice it off. "You are definitely not a mere mortal, and not a god, are you like... a son of Zeus or something?" It wasn't a bad guess at all, he did have the intimidating look and blue eyes. But it turned out it was a pretty bad guess after all. Will looked at me like I just suggested Artemis is getting married to her twin brother(who is a sworn maiden goddess and hates her brother Apollo). "Isn't that the Greek sky god guy or something. Are you crazy or...stupid?"
A lesson for you mortals: THE WORST WAY YOU CAN INSULT A CHILD OF ATHENA IS CALL THEM S T U P I D!!!!!!!
Too bad for Will, he apparently didn't know that. I saw Percy tighten his hold on Riptide next to me, but I was too mad to notice anything else. I threw a punch at him so fast and with such force he was caught by surprise and his head snapped back. The left side of that extraordinary face of his is completely red, and several expressions crossed his face: bewilder, surprise, menace, curiosity, and something else that I couldn't place...
he started to reach up a hand slowly to touch the left side of his face. the look in his violet eyes are indeed really surprised... he held on to my stare... SUDDENLY! moving faster than any mortal could have move, he grabbed the knife hilt at his belt and swung it at us. I ducked, and examined his knife. It was a beautiful weapon, I thought, long and elegant, and shining silver. Not a demigod weapon. But instead I said: " that's a pretty little toy you have, too bad you can't even swing it." Percy smirked. Will looked absolutely freaked out now... and I was pleased. "How did you move so fast? And how dare you suggest that about the handsome fellow standing in front of you?!" He demanded, and tightened his hold on his knife. I opened my mouth to throw back a witty reply... or a slap, "You-" I started. But right then, a soft and rather kind voice sounded behind me.
