I have to keep going...
No matter what happens, I musn't stop. There's no turning back. I have to keep going.
But the reality is much more different.
I was sweating all over. I could feel my legs burning from running too much. My body was physically tired, I felt like I was gonna pass out.
My instincts told me to look behind, but my mind said otherwise.
Taking my chances, I turned my head.
And to my surprise, my pursuer was gone.
I've been running for the past hour and a half. My legs finally decided to give in. But in reality, I musn't stop. Who knows when he'll be back?
Deep breaths. Nice and easy.
Reeling myself, I scouted ahead. I tried looking for any signs of refuge, anything that would keep some distance between me and him. But I couldn't find anything, as all I see are trees. I knew I was screwed. I had no time to lose. I need to find something quick before he shows up again.
"Please give me a sign. Anything." I whispered to myself. I was desperate. I wanted to get out of here as soon as I can.
As if on cue, I suddenly spotted something in the distance. It was bright and yellow like the sun. Without thinking, I walked towards its direction. This may be my only chance, so why not risk it?
I was actually surprised for once that I wasn't running. A huge difference from what I was experiencing a few hours ago.
Freedom at last!
Or so I thought.
Because guess who was waiting for me on the other side.
It was him.
"Hello, sweetheart." He said menacingly.
I was taken aback. I wasn't expecting this at all. My gut told me to run, but I was frozen in place. I couldn't even think straight.
Fear had taken control of my body.
And so was he.
His grip on my hand was tight. He was definitely not going to let me go. How stupid was I to fall for his trap? I should've known. Oh if only. But it was too late. There was no escape.
I closed my eyes as I awaited my faith. It's only a dream, it's only a dream. I'm not in the middle of the forest with a crazed wannabe murderer slash stalker. I'm happy at home, sleeping in my bed, surrounded by my lovely pet cats.
I know it sounds silly, but I tried my best to concentrate. It just might work, right?
I was dead wrong.
I opened my eyes and he was still there. His grip was still there, and so was his sinister smile. I wasn't going anywhere.
Clearly, there was no escape.
