Sage received the call from downstairs at seven on the dot. Punctuality was a great trait especially since she had been ready and pacing for ten minutes. Jimmy was off duty on Saturday nights so Lamar was at the door. He was a pleasant man in his early sixties who didn't say anything more than good evening.
She answered. "Send Dr. Sutton up please, Lamar."
She knew she appeared over anxious as she stood in her doorway waiting for him to travel fourteen stories in the elevator. It excited her to see him and what he would wear for an evening out. He could wear sweatpants, and he would look sexy.
He looked both ways when he stepped off the elevator. She knew the moment he saw her. Once again his eyes took in her dress. Her nipples hardened as he visually caressed her. He wore jeans and a navy button down. He tucked in his shirt and she didn't love the blue on blue, but she would not play fashion police.
He smiled and held up a bottle of wine.
She smiled. "What's this for?"
"Your drink. I think there is more than one, so if I get a kiss for one drink, what will I get for two?"
Sage laughed, although she was nervous. He had laid his cards on the table and it was up to her to pick up as many as she wanted. She was certain she wanted them all.
He followed her to the tiny kitchen area, Sage took down two wine glasses and found a corkscrew, but when she turned around, he had the bottle opened.
He shrugged. "Screw tops are in now."
She would never find a screw top wine bottle in her family wine cellar, but when in Rome. Museums did not pay well and his published books were only bought by students like her.
Sage watched as his large hands gripped the bottle and poured the crimson liquid into two glasses. His hands were steady, yet hers were shaking as she swirled her glass and lifted it to her nose to inhale the aroma. It was surprisingly pleasing. Before she could taste it, he laughed at her.
"What?" She wondered if he found her trembling hand amusing.
"You look like a wine expert."
Relieved, she smiled. "My father taught me to smell wine when I was much too young to drink. It's a habit, I suppose."
She tasted the wine and held it on her tongue before swallowing which was something else she learned from her father. It was actually rather pleasant. She had drank worse in college.
Sage reached into her nearly empty cupboard for a box of crackers. She had a decent block of cheese in her fridge. When she didn't order takeout or have leftovers, Sage ate cheese and crackers with soup for dinner. She should ask Rosa to teach her how to make a meal. It would be nice to cook for Geoffrey. She already assumed he'd be back.
She spent some time arranging the food and searching for something to say. The silence made her more nervous.
Sage almost jumped when he spoke. "Did you discover anything interesting today?"
Sage smiled, but she could talk about history. She hadn't, because she was too excited about her date to concentrate. Feeling bold, she shook her head. "I had other things on my mind."
Sage had turned to him and offered him the tray. He took a cracker and a slice of cheese and held it in his hand as he smirked.
"Puppy dog kisses, was it?"
"Ugh no, he was such a boy." She tried to sound dismissive.
He laughed, as if she were amusing. "I take it you prefer a real man."
Geoffrey walked over to her and she could feel his heat even though he stopped short of touching her.
He continued. "The question is can you handle what you want?"
She didn't respond. She couldn't, because his mouth was on hers and she felt like her entire body was short circuiting. His mouth devoured hers, but there was nothing sloppy about it. His arms went around her and he pulled her into him. She could feel just how fit he was. When he pulled away, he looked down at her and smiled.
"Now, that was worth the price of a drink. Did I pass?"
Sage croaked out a response. "A-plus."
His arms were still around her and as he leaned back against a bar stool, he pulled her in between his legs. She put her hand on his chest to balance. At his slanted angle their bodies only met below their waists. The thrumming where her body met his was so strong, she was convinced he could hear it. She felt his own blood flow challenges. She had never wanted anyone so badly after just one kiss.
"What will a second drink get me?" He reached his long arm around and poured more wine into her glass. Then he handed the glass to her. She took a liberal sip before putting the glass back on the granite.
She ran her hand down his broad chest and settled it on his waist. Marissa didn't know what she was talking about. His body was as hot as any twenty-something's.
He took her movement as a reply. His hand reached out and immediately found one of her hard nipples and skimmed over it causing her to squirm which only intensified things where their bodies met.
Geoff reached behind and undid the hooks that held her halter top up. She had a second to stop him before it fell and exposed her braless breasts. She didn't. Instead, she watched his face as he stared at her creamy mounds.
He cupped each and rubbed the nipple causing her body to respond. He smiled. She could tell he liked the power he had on her aroused body.
Sage had difficulty because he was distracting her while she attempted to unbutton his shirt. After her struggles, he lifted it over his head. Before she could admire his naked torso, he pressed her body into his and kissed her again. All she could feel was skin against skin and the heat spreading from her core.
When their lips parted, he spoke in a husky voice that she loved more than his deep one. "If two drinks gets me those beautiful breasts, does the whole bottle give me admission to your bedroom?"
Sage knew her answer before he stepped off the elevator. Taking his hand she led him to her room.
