It was dark. Too dark. He had just entered the prison a few hours ago and it was nearing nightfall. He pushed the uneaten plate of vegetables towards a group of rats who were sniffing around furiously. The foul stench emitting from the prison walls made him lose his appetite. He had not eaten for three days straight.
He watched silently as the rats nibbled furiously on the food until there was only the plates left.Shifting his feet to ease the numb from sitting down for so long, he got up and walked towards the small window with bars nailed firmly to the walls.
A shooting star shot through the starry sky until it blended into the surroundings. He clasped his hands together quickly and made a wish.
"Farewell, my princess." Those were his last words.
