Throughout my 3 years working as a gym instructor, I have met a lot of people from all walks of life and that includes weird people and they can be so weird that you are not often prepared for it. There were people that have hired me gave up on their training 2 weeks after signing up and they don't appear at the gym ever again, wasting that 1 year of gym membership and that wastes their money that could be used for better things.
I really hated those customers a lot and I would make sure that the person is really in for losing weight and bulking up before making them the contract for the membership, I will not take customers that wastes my time and makes me angry.
Other than that, I have some customers who are good and I am happily helping them out to achieve the goals that they want to achieve. I am not the only one who has bad customers, my coworkers have them as well and I have heard from my coworkers that there is another type of customers that would make you feel awkward from the start, it is the people that you know to some extent and you thought that you wouldn't see them ever again.
I have got a coworker whose ex-wife turned up at the gym hoping to sign up membership and my coworker was the one who was assigned to her, he wanted to quit his job right away and they had a huge commotion, I was there to witness and it wasn't very pleasant to see. I told myself that I wouldn't have such customers because I am not married or dating anyone at the moment, the last girl that I ever dated moved back to her home country many years ago and there is a low chance that she would ever come back again.
But she shocked me once by appearing at my best friend's wedding to be his bride's bridesmaid, I thought that I would never see her again and she was doing fine which made me furious. How can you look so fine after so many years?
And I knew that she would return back to China as soon as she is done with the wedding, it is not like she is staying here for good and she has a job in China as well. There is no literal reason why she would be here, she wouldn't want to see me again and she would try her best to avoid me at all costs.
But why is she here at this gym? And with the new Mrs Kim SooJin? I reached for my phone that is in my pants pocket and I dialled the number that I want to delete so much for one simple reason. "Hey, what's up?"
"Do you know about this? Your wife is here at my gym and she is planning to sign up for a membership." I asked him.
"That's great, she loves working out for as long as I remember and it would be good for her." His voice was indifferent. "Has she signed the membership yet?"
"That is not important, what is important is the person that she decided to bring along with her, I thought that she would go back to China once the wedding is over. Why is she doing here in my gym?" I am practically yelling right now because of how much shock that I had received from seeing Song YuQi appearing in front of me again.
"Who is that?" He asked innocently even though I have said it so clearly.
"Song Yuqi, I have no idea why is she here and I don't know if I should go over to your workplace to kill you off or hang you up on a noose. Why did you not tell me about that?"
"Oh, about that... Yeah, she is back in South Korea and she is staying for good although I don't know what she is going to do here, Soojin doesn't tell me about everything. I just didn't know that she would be making her appearance in front of you again since she does not like to work out."
"So, you knew. You bastard, you didn't even prepare me for this at all and I don't know what to do. She is outside right now and I don't know how to face her and look normal, I don't even think that I sound normal in front of her."
"Just pretend that she is not here and look at Soojin, if you don't look at me in the eye. She is not going to sign up the membership and she is only there to accompany SooJin." Jungwoo gave a few suggestions. "Or you can be a man and face her upfront, you can't be avoiding her for the rest of your life."
JungWoo is right, it has been almost 7 years since the end of our relationship and we have since moved on with our lives. That relationship doesn't matter much in our lives but a piece of my memory that I would never forget, but it is nog that important anymore. And she has moved on with her life as well, she isn't the type to hold onto her past and not let go of it.
"Thanks for the suggestions, I really appreciate it," I told him.
"You're welcome, Lucas. Just don't go killing me after this, I have a beautiful wife and I still want to spend the rest of my life with her." I hung up, I got enough of his antics and I walked back outside where the rest of the world is waiting for me.
I kept on my shades as I walked to Seo Soojin and Yuqi while keeping a stoic face, I am bad at making that face. "So ladies, have you decided on getting a gym membership? It may be a little expensive but it is going to benefit you in the long run as you become fitter and healthier."
SooJin burst out in laughter. "What is with that business voice? Speak normally with us, we were your classmates before." She looked towards Yuqi who didn't show many reactions and she looked back. "Your gym membership is for a whole year, right? And it includes bringing a friend along, and it is free of charge?"
I nodded. "If she signs up for the membership as well, you would also get a free T-shirt and a date with me." I immediately shut up, that came out way wrong and there is no way to undo this very mistake and I said it in front of Song Yuqi, my ex-girlfriend.
