"Awe you guys look great!" My mom says as our parents takes pictures of the four of us.

We were all glammed up matching our date. I wore a long royal blue dress and Soph wore a lavender one with a slit in it.

"Okay we better hurry up now" Soph says.

"No no no. Just one more!" Her mom says snapping multiple more photos.

"Okay okay, we're leaving" Brandon says pushing us into the limo and waving goodbye to our parents.

"Thought we were never gonna get outta there" Austin says running his fingers through his hair.

"Here's to senior year homecoming!" I say playing our favorite song on the aux cord.

After about 30 minutes of just driving around, we finally show up at the school. We talk, dance, and hang out with friends until it's time to announce the hoco king and queen.

"Fifty bucks its King Kuwonu" Soph whispers in my ear. I roll my eyes.

"That's an easy bet I'd lose" I say.

"...and your senior king and queen are" the senior class president announces from the stage. "Zion Kuwonu and Ashleigh Bailes!!"

Me and Soph exchange looks. Zion and the girl I saw in chemistry go up on stage to receive their crowns. Ashleigh seemed so excited to be up there but Zion seemed bored, annoyed almost. I lock eyes with him for a second but he looks away quickly.

They get off stage and the party continues. A while later a slow song starts to play. Austin and Soph start to dance and I look for Brandon but he's no where to be found.

I turn my head and notice Zion alone at a table looking at the floor.

"Hey I'll be right back" I tell them.

They nod and I walk over to Zion.

"Hey Mr. I just won homecoming king for the fourth year in a row" I say sitting down at the table.

"That's a long last name" he says. We slightly chuckle.

"Uh. You left this at my house" I say handing him the keychain from out my handbag.

"Thanks." He says. We sit in silence for a second. "Hey. Can we talk?"

"In here? I can barel-"

"Come on" He says grabbing my hand and taking me outside.

"It's cold out here, Z" I say as we step out into the cold parking lot.

"Here." He takes off his blazer and puts it on me.

"Thanks" I say with an awkward smile.

"I'm sorry I've been acting weird lately" he says leaning against his car. "The truth is I didn't wanna ask Ashleigh to hoco"

"So you've been acting weird because you didn't wanna go to homecoming?" I say.

"No. I- I wanted to go.. just not... with her" he tries to explain.

"What? Zi-"

"Just look." He says opening his trunk.

There was a sign that said 'it would be sweet if you gave this sucker a chance to take you to hoco' with a bag of candy.

"My favorite suckers.." I say surprised.

"I wanted to go with you" He says slightly nudging me. I look up at him. "..and I don't know, when I saw you with Brandon I just got... jealous?"

"Why?" I ask him.

"You're really gonna make me say it? Isn't it obvious" he smiles. He takes his crown off and places it on my head. "I like you, China"

"Zion. I-"

He kisses me. This time with no interruptions. I put my hands on his shoulders and he holds my waist.

"Uh my parents aren't home. You wanna.. come over?" He says, his face still centimeters away from mine.

"I actually... uh... can't" I say pulling away. "I gotta go, Zion"

I give him his jacket back and take the crown off.

"Keep the crown." He says placing it back on my head. "See you Monday, Green"

He hops in his car and I walk back into the school.

What the fuck just happened.
