Asta had only just managed to make it back up the wall when he saw the hand of the large Titan come swinging down. A loud yell of Eren's name left his lips and Eren jumped, barely missing the large hand. Asta lifting his arms and blocked his eyes. The hand had smashed the cannons and barrels, causing woods to fly towards him. The cannons went flying over the other side of the wall, smashing to the ground.
"Eren!" He yelled again when he saw the boy running up the Titans arm. He had made it to the neck and flew up, aiming his sharp swords and swinging himself forward.
Was it really going to be this easy?
Asta jumped back as a load of steam came pouring out of the Titan. It blocked his view from being able to see anything and he waved his arms around, trying to get the hot steam out of his face. As the steam started to disappear he noticed the Titan had as well.
Eren was in a state of shock. The Titan as gone from his vision and he went falling to the ground. Asta jumped over the edge, using the ODM gear to stick into the wall and brace himself. He grabbed onto Eren before he could fall any further. "Where the hell did it go?! Something that big can't just disappear!"
"I don't know!" Eren screamed back, whipping his head around to try and get a glance of it.
"Eren! Asta!" Thomas called from the top of the wall. "Did you beat it?!"
"No!" Eren's voice was dark and full of rage. His eyes wide open and wild. "It's just like five years ago! He suddenly appeared, then suddenly disappeared!"
Asta wrapped his arms around Eren tighter and pulled them back up to the top of the wall. Once they were on safe ground he let Eren go. His friend hung his head low and breathed heavily. Asta sighed and rubbed his forehead. The thing had just popped up and now it was gone. It made no sense.
"I'm sorry. I let him get away." Eren apologised.
"You didn't let anything happen." Asta snapped, feeling his emotions get the better of him. He was drowning in frustration.
"What are you apologising for?" Thomas said, taking a kinder approach compared to Asta. "We were scared stiff - "
"Hey! This is no time for that!" Connie cut him off, having small cuts and bruises on his face from the debris. "The wall's been broken! We have to hurry and seal it before the Titans get in again!"
"What are you doing?" Asta turned his head as another soldier came flying onto the roof. "The Colossal Titan Response Operation is already underway. Return to HQ at once!" He commanded. "Anyone who's come into contact with it, remember to give a report!"
"Yes, sir!" The four of them replied, their right arm over the chest.
"We pray for the advance team's success!" Connie added.
