He awoke to someone opening the hotel room door. The room was dark which meant that at some point she had closed the blinds. He looked at the clock. 8:20. He glanced over and saw her setting some things down on the table. He groaned and rolled over. He rose his eyebrow when he could have sworn he heard her chuckle lightly. He heard her moving around some more and then he felt the sheets lift as she climbed into bed. He turned slightly and lifted his arm, allowing her to spoon into his warm body. He could still smell the massage oil on her skin.
"Did you enjoy your massage?"
"Yes, sir. Very much. Thank you, sir."
"You are welcome. I thought you had to be home by 9:00 am?"
"My husband's flight was delayed so he told me that I didn't need to get him until 11:00 am, sir."
"You didn't have to come back. You could have went home and I would have never know the difference."
"Would you have rather me done that, sir?"
"No... this is much more applicable to my wants and needs. But that doesn't answer the question of why you did come back."
"My husband told me that if I went home or left the hotel before 10:30 then he wouldn't tell me something that I really want to know so... The lobby was too boring, sir."
He laughed.
"Your husband is an interesting man. I don't think I will ever understand your arrangement with him."
"Yes he is. Our arrangement is unique and... Elijah...I really don't want to talk about it. I am sorry I brought it up."
"Its fine...wait... do I smell coffee?"
She laughed.
"Yes, sir. I also grabbed you a bagel, a blueberry muffin, an apple, and hardboiled eggs. Their breakfast was a little sad for the size of their hotel sir. I also didn't want to grab anything that could get cold because I didn't expect you to be awake when I got back, sir."
He groaned in contentment.
"Can I start every day like this? Breakfast. Coffee. And a beautiful woman in my bed. The trifecta of amazing mornings."
She laughed as he pulled her tighter against him.
"Do you want me to bring you your coffee, sir?"
"No, I can get it. If you want to try to sleep I can wake you."
"Yes please, sir."
A part of him didn't want to hear her say sir when they were just relaxed but he knew better than to ask. He knew that it was one of her many defense mechanisms to keep her emotional distance from him. He went over to the table and ate his breakfast and drank his coffee. He opened the blinds slightly so that he could look out at the city scape outside of the window. He was using his phone to read the paper when he heard her phone ding. He didn't intend to read it but he looked over and it was next to him.
Good Morning my dear. My flight landed a little early but please don't rush to get here. Enjoy your morning. I love you. ❤️
He didn't know why knowing that her husband was a good guy made him feel guilty. Was it because he felt his emotional attachment growing? Was it because he wanted her to wake up every morning with him? He pushed those thoughts and feelings out of his head as he walked over to the bed. She was sleeping peacefully and he felt bad having to wake her but then he noticed that she was sweating and her brow was slightly furrowed. He quickly realized that she wasn't sleeping peacefully, she was having a nightmare. He gently touched her shoulder. She came awake quickly and looked up at him bewildered. He watched as she gathered her bearings and then looked at the clock.
