Jacqueline Rose's Pov
"You need to calm down Rose."
"Calm down?! How am I supposed to calm down when Esther is alive and trying to start a war in New Orleans. She has my dad trapped in a prison in his own mind for Pete's sake!" I ranted to Aunt Rebekah as I paced around the room. Candles lit up as I passed them due to the anger radiating off of me.
"As of right now, that's none of our businesses. My brothers told me to keep you and Hope safe and that's what I'm doing. Now, you are not allowed to use your magic to see what's happening in New Orleans anymore. Do you understand me?" I rolled my eyes letting out a frustrated scream causing multiple glasses to break and Hope to start crying.
"This is so stupid!"
"Enough Jacqueline! Go to your room until you calm down. You're scaring Hope." I turned around to argue but I received a glare from Rebekah and sighed stomping up to my room. I listened and heard her rocking Hope back to sleep and my eyes drifted to the window. I could just leave. She wouldn't even notice and I could be back by sundown. I've read all of Esther's spellbooks. I know how to reverse what she's done...but what if she sensed me in the city? That would make things a lot more complicated. Ughhhh I just want to help my dad!
After an hour or so of debating, I locked my bedroom door and set up candles on the floor. I was going to help my dad no matter what.
After lighting al the candles I sat down and focused. When I opened my eyes I was in one of the tombs in the cemetery and dad was knocked out on his knees with chains pulling his wrists. I could feel something binding his spelled stated and looked around for any kind of dark object. looking up I saw a doll hanging above him. Sticking out my hand I began mumbling a string of words in Latin. Soon I could feel the binding breaking and just in time too as I could feel another presence nearing the tomb.
Finishing in a split second I hid watching Uncle Kalus walk in. He was at Dad's side in an instant and ripped the doll from the ceiling tossing it to the side before he broke his chains. I then watched Esther walked in and offered Uncle Klaus a chance to live as a wolf with his father but of course, Klaus rejected the offer and threatened her for what she's done to our family.
Taking a deep breath I appeared in Dad's room and watched as Uncle Klaus load him on the bed. He and Hayley looked at him for a moment exchanging a few words before leaving him to rest. Their departure finally gave me the chance I needed. Sitting on the bed next to him I placed my hand on his forehead and focused on the web Esther had weaved. It was a strong spell and she thought she could block anyone else other than herself from entering his mind, but I've seen stronger.
I soon entered my dad's mind and it was nothing like what I expected. For some reason, I thought It would in a house of some sort, but instead, I was brought into a dark forest. Cautiously walking around I looked for any signs of my dad. At first, I couldn't find him but I did hear the faint sound of a child running around and laughing.
"One day only the monster will remain." Walking towards the familiar voice I found Dad and what I could only assume was an image of him as a child.
Young Elijah seemed afraid of his present self as he attempted to hut him with the ax he held with him.
"Dad!" I called before he had a chance to retaliate against the attack.
My call caught his attention causing me to turn my way. I was shocked to see him covered in blood. his eyes were even blood red. This definitely isn't my dad but it must be how he seems himself on the inside. With a growl, he charged at me causing me to instinctively raise my hand causing him to fly back.
"I'm not here to fight you," I explained slowly walking towards him
"Stella?" He asked staring me down with red eyes as he walked to me moving a piece of my hair out my face. He must think I'm my mother.
"No dad it's your daughter. It's Jacqueline." I explained searching his eyes for any type of emotion.
After I told him my name I watched as something clicked. The red drained from his eyes leaving the white I was used to and he looked at me like with both confusion and a bit of anger.
"What are you doing in my mind? You're supposed to be away from New Orleans with Rebekah and Hope."
Great, I'm getting lectured. No thank you daughter for coming to help me out of my mind prison!
"I am with Rebekah, but I couldn't just let Esther do this to you. I sensed that you were in trouble. Did you expect me to just sit around and let her torture you!" I didn't expect to get so worked and I definitely didn't mean to yell at him. "Sorry I just..."
"You want to protect your family." I nodded looking at him apologetically "I understand that more than anyone Rose, but it isn't safe. Do you think I wanted to learn of my daughter's existence just to send her away?"
"No..."
"Exactly, if I could have it any other way I would, but until it is safe you have to stay away. No more magic loopholes."
Wiping the tears from my eyes I hugged him not worried about the darkness coming back. He hugged me back tightly in return and I soon woke up with a start. Sighing I wiped the sweat from the forehead and stood off the hard floor. At least I could feel that dad was awake as well. Taking a deep breath I laid on my bed closing my eyes as I began to drift off to sleep, but not before receiving a text from Uncle Klaus. That simply said.
Thank you...
