our two year anniversary was coming up but since college was starting soon nova would be out of the country on our actual anniversary. so i thought i would surprise her early.

i go to grab the picture frame that had the picture of us from our graduation. we had a song together. our song. i decided i would make a version of me singing and playing the piano. i pick up my phone and dial her number.

"hey baby." she says with a wide smile on her face.

"what are you doing?" i asked her.

"oh nothing i just got done making a cake with my mom, you should come over so you can try some. your girlfriend is a beast in the kitchen." she laughs at herself.

"i gotta take care of a few things but i will try my best to stop by there!" i smile as i am looking at her.

"okay love, i'll talk to you later be careful!"

"i love you baby." i say to her while smiling.

"i love you too, bye." she waves at the screen and she hangs up.

i am in love with that girl.

a few hours passed and i find myself at her house and i go to knock on the door.

"oh you really came!" she smiles and hugs me as she allows me to walk in.

"of course baby." i say as i kiss her forehead.

"here come try some cake." she says running off. i follow her to the kitchen and sit at her table allowing her to get me a slice.

"wow this really is good. i think you're going to need to make this for my birthday." i say and she laughs.

"baby i have a surprise for you." i say to her and her eyes instantly light up.

i hand her the gift bag. she takes out the frame and tears start forming in her eyes.

"oh baby." she hugged me tightly

"wait there's more love." i turn over the frame for her so she notices the cd.

she instantly runs from the dining room into her room then coming back with her cd player. she takes no time to put the cd in. and as soon as she hears the piano playing she looks at me with tears in her eyes.

we take the cd player back to her room that way we can lay in her bed. she lays there facing me but covering her face because she's crying.

"nova why are you crying?" i chuckle.

"because i'm truly happy. you make me happy." i hug her to where she's cuddled into my chest.

"no time for your present!" she announced as the song finished. "i didn't get to wrap it though so don't judge."

i look at what she has in her hands and i see a new phone and an apple watch.

"nova what the heck?!" i say with excitement. she just hugs me tightly.

"i am so in love with you." i say to her.

"i am in love with you MORE." she kisses me.

"i could do this all night baby, but let's go on a breakfast date tomorrow!"

"okay taeil, but you're gonna have to call me to wake me up." she laughs.

hours passed and it was now time for me to leave. i stood up and she walked me towards the front.

"don't forget to set up your phone and watch when you get home! be careful. i love you baby."

"i love you too, good night my love." i say giving her a kiss.

i get in my car and head home. i take the scenic route because it seems like i just don't want this night to end. as i turn the corner i feel sudden shock me being jerked heavily in my car. last thing i knew was me being knocked out.

days later i suddenly am awoken from what felt like a ten minute nap, i see my family and a couple of my friends swarmed around me.

"so looking at his brain activity the last things he looks like he could remember are about five-ish years ago, anyone that could've possibly came into his life after he might not remember." i hear the doctor tell my parents and then they all look at me so shocked my mom cried hard i don't know what was wrong.

"taeil!" yuta came up and just stood over me.

"hey man, what's up?"

"nothing nova and i have been here everyday visiting you and the one day you wake up she's not here to see it."

"w-who's nova?" his whole facial expression dropped.

"oh she's a friend of mine i'll let her know you've woken up." he smiles and walks out the room.

i get a call from yuta

"what do you wantttt?" i say dragging out the word.

"taeil woke up but." he stops talking.

"oh my god i'm on my way over right now, but what?!" i start crying because he finally woke up, he's okay!

"he has a memory loss, he can't remember anything from the last four to five years." my heart instantly dropped because this was not what i was expecting.

"maybe he just needs to see me even though i came around three years ago. hopefully he'll remember me." we bid our goodbyes over the phone and i head into the hospital. i walk up to his room.

i am instantly greeted by yuta and he walks behind me and i walk in and smile to taeil.

"you must be the friend that yuta was talking about." he says smiling as if it hurt him.

"you don't remember me?" i start to tear up.

"i'm sorry i don't they said i wouldn–"

"it's okay i hope you get to feeling better, t." i walk out crying and his mom instantly follows me.

"nova, i tried to get his phone and show him pictures of you put he had a new phone for some reason that had not even been started his old phone was complete garbage so we couldn't get into it." she hugged me tightly.

"it's okay, take care though i need to get home now. you guys stay safe." i smile to her.

with that i walk to my car and sit there because my life just changed forever. and i feel like i couldn't cry right when i wanted to.
