Otaku City: Black Light District

Day 1 {Mystery Uncovered}

{89 Broadroad, Otaku City}
The gang are on the road. Everyone is trying to figure out what this Black Light District is. Graham hands something to Dylan, Dylan examines it "Sunscreen?". "You do know it's the middle of the night right?" Hisoka says in the back. "Trust me, you'll need it" Graham says "We're almost here". Graham pulls the car over into a local car park. Everyone exits the car and gets inside an elevator nearby, Graham presses some buttons in a specific way. The elevator starts going down, "Hang on a sec. isn't this the ground floor?" Jessie says in confusion. Graham turns back and smiles, "Black Light District is so well hidden... Because it's underground" Dylan says.

DING

The doors open to reveal a burst of colours. Streaks of neon orange and blue are spread all across the area. Dylan examines one of the lights hung up in the city. "This is a UV light" he exclaims "This place is literally a 'Blacklight' District". Graham smiles "Yes, the whole district is covered in Ultra Violet lights, which bring out the bright aesthetic of the place. It is both the brightest and darkest area in Otaku City". Jessie intercepts "So the sunscreen is protect our skin from the long exposure of the UV rays. But in that case, why put UV lights all around the district?". Graham notices Taiyou has a water bottle equipped on his waist "Pass me that water bottle young man" he says, Taiyou hands him the water bottle. Graham opens the water bottle and pours it all over himself, the whole group is shocked to see him do this. "Are you okay?" Jessie asks, Graham smiles "I'm quite alright. However, I may need to get a new change of clothes after this". The whole group is confused "So... why aren't you burning from the water?" Taiyou asks. "Do you know the scientific reason why witches burn in water?" Graham asks, everyone shakes their heads. Graham begins to explain "When the cerebral connection technology was tested on us, it activated a part of our brains that gave us our special abilities. However, if water comes into contact with that part of the brain, it can permanently damage it and potentially kill us. So whenever water comes in contact with the skin, our bodies release antibodies that gets rid of all of the water before coming into contact with the interior of our bodies. The antibodies don't know when to stop though, it's spreads so much that it also eats into our own skin, creating that burning irritation you've probably seen before. However, when we are exposed to Ultra Violet rays, our bodies anatomy changes and we are able to come into contact with water, we can even drink it, but only so long as we are under the Ultra Violet light". All of this information is very valuable, Dylan jots it down into his notebook. "So, you said your employer wanted to see us" Taiyou says. "Yes" Graham replies "Follow me if you will".

The group walk past and see a group of children playing with each other. Jessie is horrified "Were these kids experimented on?" She asks. Graham looks behind "Some of them were. Other's are the children of already existing parents". The children then run off to a swimming pool, since there are UV lights in the pool, this is possible. "Are all of the locals here witches?" Hisoka asks, "Most of them are. This place is a safe haven to all witches that are rejected by society. The regular humans that live here are sworn to an oath never to reveal this place to the outside world".

The group eventually arrive outside of a giant building. "My employer is the leader of this district and wants to meet you all in person" Graham says. He escorts them into a meeting room at the back, a man is seen sitting down and talking with a woman "Oh, hello. You're that group of kids I've been hearing about. The ones that have been trying to track down Black Light District. The names Marvellous, Captain Marvellous. I'm the leader, Mayor, Chief, President, blah blah whatever you want to call it" he gives all of them a handshake. "Just to be clear" he continues "I'm not a witch, my wife and children are though. This is my wife, Futari" He points them all in the direction to the woman sitting on the chair, she smiles and waves. "Out of curiosity, what powers do you have?" Taiyou asks. Futari puts her hand on a piece of paper sitting on the table, she then lifts it to reveal a black and white print of Taiyou, everyone on the table is impressed "I know right?" Marvellous intervenes "What a cool trick". The whole group take a seat "So, I've been hearing that you guys have done some pretty nasty stuff to find this place, can I ask what do you want to do with this place?" Marvellous asks. The whole group look at each other and nod "Were trying to find members of DragonFruit" Dylan says "We've heard a lot about how they have contact with this place and we suspect that they have members here". Marvellous lies back "Sadly I'm unaware of any DragonFruit members being here, this place is merely supposed to be a place where witches can feel safe and unharmed by society. I will be happy to help you search for any potential members though, would you like to start tomorrow?". Dylan sits back and thinks "No thanks, sadly we have school for the next 5 days, if you could start a search without us, that'll be all". Taiyou walks up to Dylan "Are you sure this is a good idea?" He asks, Dylan nods "Trust me" he replies. They all turn back to Marvellous "Very well then. I'll have a search party conduct some investigations. Until then, I'll see you this weekend" he switches back to a more playful tone "I hope to see you all soon, bye bye".

The group start to walk back to the elevator. A little boy comes up to Jessie and tugs her on the arm "I know you!" The little boy says, "You do?" Jessie replies. "You're the girl that's on Udagawa Onee chan's phone!" This shocks Jessie "You know Glen?" She says confusingly. "Jessie, Cmon we need to get going!" Taiyou says. Jessie turns back to see that the little boy is gone. Jessie's beyond confused, "What did that boy mean. What's Glen doing down here".
