Victoria's POV
The music was loud, the lights were bright, the adrenaline was pumping through my veins. I jumped up and down to the beat and screamed the lyrics to Sleeping with Sirens If You Can't Hang.
The energy in the audience was amazing. Real people experiencing real, live music.
I'd gotten tickets from my best friend Luke for my birthday, as he knew they were one of my favourite bands. Alongside the tickets, he got us matching Sleeping with Sirens shirts that we both dawned for the show. I had already cut out the sleeves and collar even though part of the reason he'd gotten me the shirt was because I'd cut up the last one I had so bad it started to unravel in the wash.
The tall blonde has been my best friend since year one. Even though we are polar opposites, we have been completely inseparable since the beginning. On one hand, I am quite shy when it come to new faces, but once I really got to know someone all the shyness burns away. Luke on the other hand, is the perfect compliment to me with his big and outspoken personality. His outgoing personality shows itself through the many tattoos that cover his arms and chest that he proudly displays on every occasion he can.
I look over at Luke and he is doing the same thing as me, yelling out the lyrics with a wide grin plastered across his face. If You Can't Hang is one of his favourites.
"Cause you're such a pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty face, but you turned into a pretty big waste of my time."
He looks over at me and our eyes locked for a split second before we both turn our attention back to the stage.
The band played two more songs, Kick Me and Let's Cheers To This. Let's Cheers To This holds a special place in my heart, and I soak up every minute of the song knowing it was the closing number. The band takes their bows after the final song of the night, and the crowd roars with applause and screams. I look around and smile, these are my people. The band started to throw guitar picks and drum sticks into the crowd, but we aren't close enough to the front to catch any because they only ever seem to throw far enough for the first 3 or so rows.
I felt a slight tug on my arm, it was Luke. "Let's go!" I could barely hear him shout over the sound of still screaming fans. I look around and notice everyone was heading towards the exits that lead back out to the lobby of the venue.
"Sorry, yeah lets go," I splutter.
"Sorry for what?" Luke asks, cocking an eyebrow
"I just got lost in thought, you know, zoned out."
"Okay then, let's go, I have one more thing planned for your birthday," Luke says with a smirk playing at the corner of his lips.
Luke and I head towards one of the many exits and make our way through the crowded space. Once I got to the outside doors, I didn't have to open them because they were held open by the constant flow of people moving through the threshold. Once outside I was immediately hit by cool air. I hadn't even realized how hot it was inside so the evening air was refreshing. The heat of being crammed shoulder to shoulder in a fairly small area didn't seem to affect me until the temperature went from 90 degrees to a crisp 65.
We walk in silence all the way to Luke's car. However, it is not awkward silence, just comfortable silence. Lots of thoughts were racing through my mind right now, including what Luke had planned for me next. I slowly start to zone out again but I am brought back by a voice calling my name.
"Vic!" Luke yells.
"You just walked past my car, and unless you feel like walking home I suggest you come back and get in the car."
