Toni walked straight into English class that morning with high hopes. They were supposed to have a topic picked that day, and luckily they found one that hopefully wasn't already picked.

Toni moved to the back of the classroom and sat down in the same place she was at yesterday. She pulled out her phone and laid back in the chair she was sitting in.

"Did you pick a topic?" Sweet Pea asks, walking over to her desk and standing next to it.

"We did."

He groaned. "Dang it. I thought I wouldn't be the only one."

"I would have forgotten if Cheryl didn't text me."

Sweet Pea's eyes widened. "Hold on..." He steps closer, "Cheryl texted you?"

"Oh my.. - Sweet Pea were you not listening to a thing that was being said during the car ride here?"

He shook his head in response. "Nope."

"So you were in your own little world?"

"Yeo." He replied.

Suddenly, the clicking and clacking of high heels echoes in the room and Toni looks up from her phone to see Cheryl walking towards the back of the room.

She takes a seat in the desk next to Toni and pulls out her phone, instantly texting someone back.

"Hey, Cheryl." Toni found herself saying.

"Hey." She replied back, lifting her head from the current position to look at Toni.

"Why are you sitting in the back with us and not with the rest of your friends?" Toni asks, curiously.

"They aren't my friends, they're just acquaintances. Plus, we have to sit next to our partners for the rest of the project anyways."

"Dang it." Sweet Pea sighed, standing up and walking over to Josie's desk.

Toni eyed him eagerly, causing Cheryl to chuckle.

"He likes her."

"What?" She whispered, turning her attention back to Cheryl. "I doubt that. Sweet Pea hates you north siders with a passion."

"I've noticed." She replied, "doesn't mean that he can't still like her though. I mean out of all the north sider and he's actually speaking with my own best friend."

Toni hummed in response, looking back at Sweet Pea and Josie. Finally, agreeing with what Cheryl said. "You know what? You might be right."

"I'm always right." Cheryl responded, smiling to herself.

Toni just rolled her eyes.

Mr. Weatherbee walked into the classroom about a minute later, holding a clipboard in one hand and a stack of pencils in another. "Everyone to their seats, please!"

The class acknowledged him, taking seats next to their partners.

"Today is a big work day." Mr. Weatherbee said to the class. "I want you all to be on your best behavior and work together well!"

He shakes his head pointing towards some of the serpents, "if I hear any of you talking trash about the rest of the kids, I won't hesitate to throw you out of the room and send you to the principles office."

"So he really is believing that it's all our fault that the students in this school are about to be in a war." Toni whispers angerly.

"Well it's not ours."
