Chapter 34 - Andy to The Rescue

 When Andy arrived at the hotel Dawn was sitting in the bar nursing a large glass of red wine.

“Dawn, are you alright.” Andy said as put his arm around her shoulders.

“No, I’m not.” Dawn gulped a mouthful of wine before continuing. “Luke is in love with Annie…” Another gulp of wine helped swallow back the lump in her throat. “He has slept with her and….” She swallowed another mouthful of wine before continuing. “He called me Annie when we were in the middle of having sex.” She downed the last mouthful of wine. “He slept with Annie and…. Called me Annie while we were having sex.” Dawn slammed the empty glass onto the bar counter shattering it. The broken glass cut her hand and she stared at the blood for a moment and turned to Andy and said, “Please take me home. Not to my home. I want to go to your home…please Andy.”

“Dawn I’m so sorry.” He grabbed some paper napkins off the bar counter. “Here cover your cut with this and we’ll stop at a chemist and get some disinfectant and plasters for you.

“I never want to see him again or talk to him ever.” She pulled her phone out of her pocket and scrolled down till she found Luke’s number and deleted it and blocked all further calls from him.

“Come on Dawn lets go home.”

“I’m not going home. I don’t want to go home. I just can’t deal with Dad or Aunty Eve now.”

“I meant my home. You can stay as long as you want. But you have to let your Dad know where you are.”

“I will, in time, but not right now.”

Dawn stood up and swayed. Andy caught her and put his arm around her. “Come on Dawnie let’s get you to bed.”

On the way home he stopped at a chemist and picked up a home, first aid kit so he could tend to Dawn’s cut hand when they got home. He didn’t know how many glasses of wine she’d had before he got there but when he pulled into his drive she was fast asleep and snoring. He undid her seat belt and carried her inside and put her to bed.

Luke was dazed by Dawn’s kick to his head and by the time his vision cleared and he was able to stand she had gone. He heard the door slam and called after her, but she never came back. He staggered to the bathroom feeling tender and bruised. She had kicked him in the groin twice and he was hurting. When he looked in the mirror he saw his nose was bleeding. After washing his face he went to the fridge and emptied the ice tray into the hand towel and sat on the floor with the ice pack between his legs.

“Oh God, I think she’s ruined me for life.” He said out loud nursing his throbbing groin. “Damn, I have no idea how I’m going to fix this now.” Luke dabbed at his nose that was still bleeding a little.

Luke knew he would have to do some serious grovelling now to get Dawn back and what was he going to say to Chris and her family. As soon as Annie’s name left his lips he knew he’d messed up big time but what happened next he never expected or dreamt Dawn was capable of doing with her small frame.

Dawn woke at midday with a headache that made her feel nauseous.  She stumbled into the bathroom and got sick. Andy heard her and knocked on the bedroom door.

“Dawn are you alright?”

“Sort of. My head is splitting.”

“I’ll get you a couple tablets.”

“Thanks Andy.”

After taking the tablets Dawn followed Andy through to the kitchen to get something to eat.
